Looking for a place to call Home. :)

I've snooped around several guild sites, but still want to get as much info as I can about what's out there, so I'm posting a little resume of sorts and some general questions for anyone who would like to perhaps consider if I would be a good fit for their guild family. :)

1. I'm not a heavy RPer, but I like being around/experiencing RP events or chat. A guild that was semi-RP or that was involved in events would be nice. Is Guild Chat limited to 'business' or is it more informal and chatty? Does the guild participate in server events?

2. What Outposts does the guild control, and where? I've never really PvPed before, so I'd like to have a guild that was at least a little involved with this side of play.

3. How many active members, and where are they mostly, timezone-wise? I'm on West Coast time, so I'd like to be where there is activity during my hours.

4. What is the general philosphy of your guild? What is your 'mission statement' and overall preferred playstyle in the game?

5. Is the guild leadership structured or more informal? My only other MMO guild was an elected democracy, which encouraged participation and valued input from members on all guild issues. I like guilds with structure and standards that are upheld. :)

I want to make my guild decision a longterm one, so I will continue shopping around for the next few days. Any guild leaders or members who could answer my questions would be really appreciated. :)

Hello there, nice to see someone putting a lot of thought into choosing a guild on the long term. I figured I'd give some info here about Melinoe, as good as I can...

1. In Melinoe, we like to RP in public chat, but in guild or team chat this rarely happens. Our guild chat is used both for conversation and 'business', the former being the most frequent. We do take part in events sometimes, but this differs from member to member. I for one alway go have a look at least, even if I don't plan to participate.

2. We control Ginti Workshop, in GoC (Grove of Confusion, the forest 250 zone). We help out each and every Karavan guild who needs a hand defending or attacking an outpost, and do so as if it was our own. Some of us put up our PvP tags when Yrkanis is being invaded by Kami again as well.

3. Our activity level differs from day to day, but most days we have at least half a dozen people online. I think our active member count is around 20-30 atm. We have members from Europe all the way to west coast USA. The US folks are the most numerous, so you shouldn't have trouble finding people online :)

4. Our "Mission Statement" and general philosophy, is that we work and fight for Jena. We are Karavan/Matis in alignment, and Yrkanis is our base of operations. Our guild description is that we are the Atys Harvesters, so we dig a lot, but that doesn't mean we ignore the combat aspect of life on Atys! Many of our top harvesters are also great Mages and Warriors. When a cuttler catches us digging, we don't run... we kill it!

5. The guild Leadership is hard to explain. In absence of DoubleTap (Guild Founder and Leader), the High Officers and Officers hold the reins. Everyone gets a say in things, but HOs and DT get the final word. Of course, there's not much that needs deciding on, except for some trades with other guilds and recruiting of new members. Generally, we treat all our members as equals, and only bust out the ranks when a decision needs to be made.

Hope this was some helpful info. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me via PM, or ingame (/tell Rocci). And enjoy your (hopefully equally long-term) stay on Atys!

Greets,

We are a semi to high RP guild. I say semi, cause we aren't strict about always being IC in guild and team chat. Also we don't force you to RP, it's totally up to you. But we also run RP events and get invlved in other RP events. Chat can go from serious to chatty. It all depends on mood of the people on atm.
2. What Outposts does the guild control, and where? I've never really PvPed before, so I'd like to have a guild that was at least a little involved with this side of play.
We don't own an outpost anymore, we sold it. We do get involved in the PvP conflicts though by being hired to help with either side. Generally we aren't big on pvp, so this usually is the limit of our involvement in pvp.
3. How many active members, and where are they mostly, timezone-wise? I'm on West Coast time, so I'd like to be where there is activity during my hours.
Our active members numbers vary, but we aren't a big guild though. We do have several people in the US now though, but we're really looking to increase that.

That aside, we may not be big, but we are VERY active. You'll usuaully find us at every event that happens on the shard. We are very active on these forums too. And we run our own events.
4. What is the general philosphy of your guild? What is your 'mission statement' and overall preferred playstyle in the game?
Have fun. Seriously our only goal is to enjoy ourselves and help each other.

IC the current incarnation of the guild is that we are a bunch of mercs. Our only mission is to stay alive and survive.

I guess our preferred playstyle is lazy. Meaning we aren't into power leveling and speeding to the top of the skill ladder. We prefer to help each other along the way instead of pushing them along.
5. Is the guild leadership structured or more informal? My only other MMO guild was an elected democracy, which encouraged participation and valued input from members on all guild issues. I like guilds with structure and standards that are upheld. :)
We are a matriarchy with a touch of democracy. What this means though is that I make most of the snap to decisions, things that are daily running type things. But whenever there is something that is important on a larger scale and can effect the guild alot, there is discussion and voting. Leadership is not voted in. Officers and HOs aren't voted in. In the end my word in law, but very often I consult the membership of the guild for input and ideas. Their guild, their choice.

I want to make my guild decision a longterm one, so I will continue shopping around for the next few days. Any guild leaders or members who could answer my questions would be really appreciated. :)
Take your time deciding. Finding a guild is a very important decision. If you have any further questions, please dont' hesitate to ask me or one of my fathful little minions. We'll be more than happy to talk to you.

Edit: I would like to add that we do not give out shiny things to new members. You will earn what you get. Also we have a bootcamp that is basically a set of varying tasks to be completed in order for you to become a full guild member. This is basically a trial period for you to get used to us and how the guild works and for us to get used to you. Also it's jsut a good time for everyone to get to know each other without any pressure.

VeniVidiVici is a neutral faction neutral race guild that is none to semi RP. Several of our members really enjoy RP, but the guild is not based on it. So we generally RP with others. We do participate in Atys-wide events. Many of our members like to keep their finger on the pulse of the politics and happenings in the world. So there is some opportunity for RP. Our guild chat is general conversational and chatty, although it gets serious when folks have questions or when we're involved in something. We also have a Team Speak server for our guild members that goes from dead quiet to chatty and lively depending on who is logged in. :)
mikadou wrote:2. What Outposts does the guild control, and where? I've never really PvPed before, so I'd like to have a guild that was at least a little involved with this side of play.
We control a q50 outpost in the Lakelands. Greenvale Trade Post, west of Fairhaven. We have some call to defend our friends outposts as well, although as neutrals, the guild as a whole doesn't participate in Attacks of outposts unless they are friendly in nature. We don't limit our individual members from helping their friends though. We just ask that they try to remember the guild's overall position when the choose to particpiate in those activities.
mikadou wrote:3. How many active members, and where are they mostly, timezone-wise? I'm on West Coast time, so I'd like to be where there is activity during my hours.
20-30 active members (many more on the guild roster). Generally 5-15 online at any given time during our peak play times. We have mostly US members east and west coasts. We also have some Europeans and some Aussies. So there's almost always someone on line.
mikadou wrote:4. What is the general philosphy of your guild? What is your 'mission statement' and overall preferred playstyle in the game?
Homins shouldn't kill other homins. We have a greater threat facing us than our religious and racial differences. The Kitins are intent on wiping us off of Atys and we must fight them. We won't run away from a homin-homin fight, but we would rather see our fellows band together to defend our world from the kitins. (Read, we don't PVP much. We have fun with outpost battles and duels for fun, but we don't get faction points and we can't put up PVP flags for general fights.)
mikadou wrote:5. Is the guild leadership structured or more informal? My only other MMO guild was an elected democracy, which encouraged participation and valued input from members on all guild issues. I like guilds with structure and standards that are upheld. :)
We have a democratically elected guild leadership. (With the general exception of the guild leader. That is usually someone who volunteers to do the job since it can be a lot of work.) We have a weekly guild meeting where we keep folks in touch with what's happening in and out of guild. We have guild forums out of game where we also keep up with relevant things. http://ryzom.vx3lan.com. Our general forum has more detail on the guild. Our officers will make day-to-day decisions and anything big is brought before the guild as a whole. And the guild has been around for quite a while.

We do help our members with equipment and xp crystals, though there are some limits. We will also help you get trekked to the other lands so you can team up with your guild mates and friends easier. Also, our guild gives away free q50 xp crystals to new arrivals on Atys. Our high officers make frequent trips around the lands offering them out.

If you have any questions about Vx3, please send me a tell or email in game. I'll be happy to answer them as best I can.

Heya Kirey! Hope your stay on the mainland is still going pleasantly :)

Let me see if I can give some more specific details on your questions other then what you may have seen in theRules section of our forum.

Reapers of the Dark aren't a roleplay oriented guild. However, Ryzom in general has a very RP friendly atmoshphere and many of us will merely go through our daily play-time interacting with other players we come across in an RP fashion. The events of course can particularly bring out this behavior. Internal guild chat, while it can be semi-RP at times, is generally just chatting, sometimes "business", and often times total wacky nonsense ;)

We currently hold the Q200 Fearing Fen Farm outpost in Upper Bog in the heart of the Matis lands. It's one we had our eye on long before outposts were even implemented and we feel very at home there. PvP is not mandated by the guild, we leave that up to the individuals. Some of us enable our faction tags and partake in things like the back and forth fights in Yrkanis for fun. Others only care to get involved at the more structured outpost battles. We hope our members will have an open mind about participating in those battles at least if they intend to use many XP catalyzers and special OP items.

Our active membership is probably around 25 regular players. We've had many new recruits applying recently as well so all lvl ranges are well represented. Our typical play times span all of US timezones with a sizeable European contingent as well- but many play too much and sleep too little so it's hard to find a time when a few of us aren't around ;)

Reapers of the Dark have a very laid back game attitude. We play for fun and not to 'win'. We don't powerlevel and generally aren't concerned with obtaining "uber" equipment. Many of us don't even have lvl 250 as a goal, we just hunt and dig for fun and enjoy exploring and learning about the world. We do have masters of harvest, craft, magic, and melee, but they're most likely to be people who've been around for more than a year. I would venture a guess we lean more towards harvest and craft oriented, but we all hunt regularly as well.

We are a democracy as much as practical. For example, all new recruits to the guild will be voted into full membership by active members after a trial period. We use our guild forum extensively for discussing guild policies and plans. It seems often members just want to log into game and have fun and therefore more mundane and every-day decisions and tasks are delegated to the officers and leader.

I'll throw in one more little bit you didn't mention directly. We are of course are Karavan aligned and enjoy participating in faction events and having a cause to fight for. The guild also has Matis citizenship but due in large part to just versatility. If we were to choose neutral guild citizenship, all members would be required to stay neutral as well whereas now at least indivuals may choose to become Matis citizens or just stay neutral. We have members of all four races, though largely Tryker and Matis, and encourage diversity. Our guild hall is located in bustling Yrkanis but members take up personal residence in towns all over Atys.

Please do look me up for anything anytime, regardless of which guild you choose. I can personally say I have friends in each of the above listed guilds and all would be great choices depending on your playstyle.

I'll be seeing you again, I'm sure. Take care! :)

Guess I might as well post a little something too =)

1. guild chat differs from RP through buisnis and occationaly over in RL if we ger really currious, I personally love to go to events, though I'm so bad with times I mostly miss most *slapself*

2. No outpost so far, we'll see what the future brings but so far I think we are busy enough without one ;) and we have many lovely friends with outpost that give us a appretiatet helping hand every now and then, so in case you want to PvP a bit, I'm sure they would appretiate the returned favour of helping defend their OPs :)

3. Quite few so far, on at odd and odder times, from a bit here and there really, sometimes up all night and other times we hit bed early =) but from 17-2 ish Paris time(kinda i think) is the most usuall times

4. We're a bunch of homins set to have fun, at the moment we're working on building up the guild, getting a decent stock of supplies and get our members upp and running, we'll see what we do from there ;) Prefered playstyle varies from member to member, but we currently do alot of digging, sometimes we go on killing or mission sprees, and gain some fame, dappers and levels

5. Well, I'm the mommy of the guild and I find that a very fitting title, as I am the creator and leader of the guild. And I love all my little Children (tho most are bigger then me)As a job I mostly delegate assignments, and make sure everything is at it's place and all are doing ok and make sure the GH is wellstocked, if something needs to be decided, I prefer to have the guidance of my Children( I wont go about making us a kami guild or something similar, without discussing it thuroghly first ;) ), if someone is being promoted I'll check with the HO and Os, and the person concerned ;)

Add in: We are so far all neutral, meaning you can only get 50 fame for the races and factions. Unfortunatly we have no Guild forum outgame yet, but we try to use the ingame one for all it's worth :)

May your choice be a good one, and you be happy with it =)

*hugs from lil me*

Your post is one of the best explained I have seen in a long while. Your choice (never let a guild choose/pimp you) in a guild can change your game experience greatly. You seem to know what you are looking for so I expect you will find your home on Atys.

Good luck Homin...

After careful consideration, I have decided to apply to Melinoe. There are so many great guilds here, it was hard to narrow down my final choice. :)

I hope to see y'all ingame!
