Improved performance on dual core machines

OK so I have a shiney new PC (AMD Athlon 64 X2, 4800+)... but I have a bit of a question.

At the moment Ryzom is set by default to affinity core 1, resulting in 100% CPU usage on that core.

Core 2 runs at a low 1-5% usage from messenger, windows media player (sorry, I prefer it to the in-game MP3 player cos most of my music has video with it), x-fire, explorer windows, antivirus/firewall, XP Pro background rubbish etc.

Is there any way to improve performance by using more power from the second core? or would this involve major recoding?

Just curious :D

try here, specifically the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer which is brand new and i only installed this morning :) and AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2 if you under relevant o/s. the second wont enable both cores for the game but will ensure it gets more exclusive use of one of them, the first i read a rumour its an early version of fooling windoze into combining the cores into one virtual one, we shall see.

there is also a micro$oft dual core patch that can increase performance, tbh i didn't notice much difference.
