I'm a long time DAoC player. I've played WoW and half a dosen other mmorpg. I and my wife are in the mood for a fresh start. We've been playing the starter island trial and loving it. Granted there's a learning curve as SoR is much different than what we are a customed too. The community has been great! I assuming the large majority of player base is in Europe? Anyway, to my question. We have tried a characters just to get the feel of the game. When we get the full account permissions will we be able to play a Karavan race and start on the Island?

Thanks,
Bick...

Alot of the Aripostle shard is in Europe, but we do have a fair amont of Americans (and Canadians) playing.

You could make a karavan race character now and start on the island. You could have one of each race and one left over. You get 5 slots.

The only thing that changes when you subscribe, is that your account changes so you can get to the mainland. Otherwise it's jsut like you are now only with that shiny big world of Atys to explore.

You don´t mean a "Karavan" to play, don´t you?
Those are NPCs and not for us to play, sorry :)

But once R² comes out, you surely can paly "with" them :D

Welcome to Atys.

Welcome to Atys Bick....

Oh the sweet karavan :)

Karavan is a religious faction and NOT a race.

A homin of any race can devote themselves to being karavan. (a very wise choice in my mind)

To become a karavan devotee, you need to gain fame with the karavan.

This can be done in the Ruins of Silon scenario. But far better - come to the mainland, where the worthy are looked after :)

You can be any race you want and embrace any civilization or religion :)
There are some difficulties, but small at the begining in gainign the missing fame if you're born negative.

But the same as you can be an asian, who has french citizenship and belives in the ancient Maya Gods
you can be a tryker, who has Zorai citizenship and belives in Kami
or a Fyros, who has Tryker citizenship and belives in Karavan... :)

So, my advice is make a race to your aesthetical taste only. Wait to get on mainland, read some lore, talk to people, make some friends then:

chose a civilisation (or none, as the crafters might find advantages to be civilization neutrals)
chose a religion (or none, as there is no real practical need for a religion for a long time untill you will want to dig deep underground)

N.B. Neutrals of all kinds can do pvp in OP wars and duels.

Just my own personal bit of advice.

Create all 5 toons while on the island for FREE !!!

You can try all races, and create multi-profs or specific melee, crafter, etc...toons

but grind them all to a decent level while its still FREE !!

Then you can upgrade, explore the world, and if you like one faction better than another, you will already have a decent character to play with :D

You can start a new toon at any time later, but then you will be paying to run around the same island that everyone else is doing for FREE !!

You hear what I'm sayin yet ??
