Lag, lag and more lag :(

I played this game for awhile about 6 monthes ago, but gave it up. Am back for a second go. I loved the game but the lag was just to horrid to tolerate. Even with all options set at minimum, i still lag, maybe not at first, but after say 30 minutes tops, it starts to lag and gets progressively worse. I have ATT dsl, have went into firewall settings and set it up according to what I have read in the stickies. Windows firewall is disabled. Disable norton security and virus while playing. Basic system specs are: athlon 64 3000+, 1.5 gigs ram, radeon 9250, disabled vm. Ryzom never gets close to using full ram for me so far, so hence the disabled vm. Am thinking maybe I should plunck down for a higher end video card maybe? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As I have sayed I love the game, but as it is right now i am unable to enjoy it

Try enabling virtual memory. I run with 1GB RAM, 1GB VM on primary hard drive, and another 1GB VM on the hard drive Ryzom is installed to.
Also, was Windows Update trying to wreak its havoc?

nitially i had vm enabled, 2 gigs worth. I noticed my hard drive was alittle to active. So i tested performance with vm/ without vm. Results were pretty much the same, maybe slightly better without vm enabled. Windows update is also disabled, only let it check for updates when I have nothing else major running. Thanks for your response Katreill!

The Radeon 9250 is not the highest end video card on the go. You may want to disable some of the advanced graphics functions in the out of game configuration. Definitely lower the LoD settings when in game.

Thanks for your response Zerlin. Yeah have figured I should go ahead and upgrade my video card. As it is now, i have everything set on minimum. It is playable yes, just not as smooth nor as pretty as it should be. Am looking at picking up an ATI x1600 pro monday,(

Installed my new card today, ATI x1600. What an amazing difference that has made, now instead of having run with minimum settings, can run at pretty much max! NO lag now!!! Looks beautiful now
