I get the message Error: Patch files failed - checking whenever I start up the game and enter my account info. I've never played, I downloaded the client yesturday and when I entered my info it wanted me to get the latest patch, which it seems to keep failing to find. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I am having a problem to, after I waited (FOREVER) for the patch to download (very slowly) it is now having an error. It says "The page cannot be displayed: "release.html" and then my only option is to restart the klient and then it does the same thing. I was actually thinking about subscribing to this game, but if I dont get support on this and fast NO WAY, this is very annoying and stupid.

Download Klients and ask there. :)

The usual solution to this problem is to delete the UNPACK folder and launch the game again.

You will probably have to open all of the ports or disable your firewall as listed in the Networking FAQ and the registration email that you received.

And as we have stated many times, if you wish fast support come into the live support chat room. Details are on the Support link in the left hand column of http://www.ryzom.com

I am having the same problem on my laptop. The network admin at work has opened the ports for the IP ranges specified in the [FAQ] Networking, Firewalls & Routers sticky on this forum:

UDP 47851-47860
TCP 80
TCP 40916
TCP 43434
TCP 10670-10679

Game server IP range: 213.208.119.0 - 213.208.119.255

I still get "Patch files failed - checking" errors. I have deleted the unpack directory and retried. I have uninstalled and reinstalled using the june version of the installer. I have patched and run successfully from home on this very same laptop and when I try it behind the corporate firewall, I get the patch error.

The network information required to unblock the Klients support chat software doesn't appear to be posted, and due to that, the corporate firewall is blocking it.

Can someone post and CONFIRM that the above ports and IP range is ALL that is required? Is something missing? Has something changed?

since Klients is an IRC chat program, try TCP 194

something misconfigered in your firewall though :s

easyest is to install software firewall, disable everything and check it's log what addresses/ports does ryzom use. allow them one by one.

one you may try to add (if it is a firewall problem) ip 130.117.80.5 port 40916

chat port is 6001 and ip chat.ryzom.com

Just to clarify, klients isn't IRC, not sure which local ports it uses tbh.
