Initialization slowdowns due to Ryzom?

Why would SoR cause my operating system to take up to 10 minutes to completely finish initializing (all tasktray processes complete, Explorer can be opened, etc.) after I log in?

I'm using Windows 2000, but I've also tried this with Windows XP. With Ryzom installed, this odd (and increasingly annoying) delay occurs. If I uninstall Ryzom, the OS boots up quickly as it used to.

This is on a 3.0GHz P4 w/ HT enabled, 1GB DDR333 RAM, ATI Radeon 9600SE w/ 128MB. 160GB HD with about 140GB free, and defragmented regularly.

Anybody else experience this, or have a suggestion for a solution? What is Ryzom doing that would cause this?

Must be ... :)

Haven't experienced this with WinXP pro, but "back in the day" I used to see things like this with Win3.1 and Win95 if the software package installed a massive DLL into Windows\System that "self registered" everytime I booted up.

But, like I said, haven't experienced this with any software packages on WinXP pro, including SoR.
