I haven't done any pvp except duels on noob island so far yet cause I'm new as well, but pvp and roleplaying are not opposites are they?

I am an old-school pvper and I can't wait to get in there and try it out. Great question rupsito and welcome to Atys.

ryzome is geared toward faction and group pvp...

faction pvp >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> single player vs single player...

And why is RPing counter to PvPing..? For PvP without at least a little roleplay, just go play half life deathmatch or counterstrike...

ye it can has both :)

an example--> world of warcraft seems a mixed game, but is very focused in pve.

i want to know from old players if this game has a good pvp.
when i say good i mean: balanced, fun, skilled pvp, almost no lag in pvp, a lot of people is pvping all the day, you win points or rewards killing in pvp..et.c...

thanks!!! this seems a great community!

You just described Guild Wars and World of Warcraft, not SoR.

Rup, search the forums for "outpost" - that's the current PvP thing. They're releasing a new patch later on that introduces Spires - that will make PvP sorta like DAoC where its faction verus faction (also like RF-Online or the new L2 patches).

Currently its guild verus guild, which I've heard has upwards over 150-200 fighting at the same time. It really depends on the outpost and time though.

So yes, large scale PvP is implemented. Small scale PvP as well. And there are people that roleplay, but you don't have to.

For lag that is system dependant, the engine of SoR handles mass battles pretty well, i play on full gfx setting in mass battles (50+ player) with little lag or significant fps loss. Ryzom is pretty hard on systems, invasions, large battle or just very crowded areas can cause low - med spec to suffer somewhat. 2gb ram + recent 256mb gfx card with a decent processor (and stable net) and ryzom is a gem to play.
