How big is Atys? (and other miscellaneous questions)

Hi everybody!
I'm new to Ryzom. I'm currently trying the the 7-days free trial. I love the setting and the freedom of this game, so i'm thinking to subscribe. But, before, I have some question for you experts:
- how big is the gameworld compared to World of Warcraft or Everquets 2?
- are there dungeons?
- i love the Encyclopedia concept, but i have readed somewhere that there are only very few encyclopedia quests implemented. Is it right? Are they adding new encyclopedia quests with the upcoming patches?
- i have heard of some financial trouble for Nevrax: is this game near to death or is well supported from the company with patches and expansions (i'm used to the excellent support that SOE give to Everquest 2)?
Thnak you very much
P.S.: i'm from italy, so sorry for the bad english.

I think that's the first time I ever saw anyone say anything remotely like that!
Welcome to Atys, gmarco
I can't compare world size with other games, but I can tell you there are no dungeons. There are about 12 complete encyclopedia quests or rites, which I think is quite a lot seeing as I have only done 1 myself, but the encyclopedia has unfilled pages for many more. New rites are not due any time soon. The company may be running on a small crew but I don't think it's about to sink, and more and more subscribers are slowly joining. Ryzom is very well supported but not in terms of new content and expansions, what we already have is more than enough to keep someone occupied for a very long time, though.

Hi there gmarco,
1) the game world is pretty big.. they do have mounts to help you get around though.
2) there are no instanced dungeons that I'm aware of.. maybe one day though
3) yes, the encyclopedia is somewhat lacking at the moment, its our hope that they'll add more once they're done with the Spires patch and R2.
4) I've heard the same thing, but with the release of the Ring and the ability to make your content persistant for an extra monthly fee, I'd be willing to bet their financial woes will be lessened. (This game has an older community, many of which don't have a problem paying an extra 6 bucks a month to have a place in outlands)
Right now the majority of work in this game from the devs is putting in a complete PvP system and adding in the ability for players to make their own content. Once those are done (end of summer I think) they'll hopefully start work on adding more official PvE content.
This is a very unique game though, much more fun than WoW if you ask me. There's almost no restriction on what you can do.
also, the support for this game is hands down flat out better than any other game on the market. There's a program called "klients" that you can download which lets you connect to an IRC like chatroom where the GM's and guides hang out, so you can ask questions and get support 24/7. (Patches tend to come out slow, but I think that's because they've spent so much time working on the Ryzom Ring. Once that's done, they can actually use it to crank out content at a much faster pace.)

The support from SOE and LucasArt for Star Wars Galaxies was (is) bad, and I think that all the hate for SOE come from that, but, trust me, the SOE support for Everquest 2 is really good.

omg I've never ever heard that before. SOE in Italy must be something because here in the US I have vowed an oath never to ever give them another dime of my MMO money again. Not one red cent. They punish their players for a living and expect us to pay for it! haha
Welcome to Atys!

Well as for the First question, I cant personaly compare to either, I can Compare to CoH/CoV (City of Heroes/City of Villians). SoR is a little bit smaller than Those 2, the Zones are bigger than in CoH/CoV but are fewer in number.
No Dungeons unless you want to count the Prime Roots as Dungeons
Aye the Encylopedia is nice, and at the imediate moment there are no plans in upcomming patches as others have mentioned.
And the Last question... Not realy sure, I think the game would do better if More advertisement had been done. (thou I think really that CoH kinda hurt it in that reguards since both games were released at very nearly the same time.)
