Mayb i better posted an ingame ticket with a hint for improving the game ...

BUT WHY THE H*CK ISN'T THERE A RYZOM TIMEZONE YET???

It would be usefull if there was a ryzom clock with a 'general' timezone implemented in the game(like the seasons and weather conditions) so we wouldn't be calculating our appointements and ingame related stuff...These GMT and other timezones make me go crazy sometimes...
Yay for the new Standard ! Forget the Real life time zone's ! Make room for the Ryzom Time Zone!!!

very true - it wud make a lot of sense - the most amusing hiccup i found was with people managing to convert the timezones properly - but not realising that at this time of year the UK is on gmt + 1 and not gmt lol :)

Anyway converting times is a pain i completely agree

I completely agree. Its something that has been asked for by many, and "missing" since beta. The absence of this "basic" feature somewhat spoils the immersion in the game and game lore.

if you think gmt makes you grazy... ryzom ingame 1 minute is 3 sec, convert that!

link in my sig, leads to current arispotles ingame date (format is more or less based one of "coming soon(tm)" screenshot from nevrax).
try to set up meeting based on that without going totally nuts.

you only need to know how many hours your time differs from GMT. that's it.
better yet, go and buy new clock and put it to GMT. then you know exactly ;-)

We still live in the real world and would still need to covert the time to Ryzom time. Now if we could do away with real time and just use Ryzom time, I'd be all for that. ;)

wouldn't it end up being a certain time zone anyway? yeah ok if Ryzom has its own time zone ...then we have to calculate that ... it really wouldn't make that much of a difference imo.

[edit] lol you posted as I typed :p

*see the following situation coming up..*

"..ok, no problem. I come look at your kitchen tomorrow 8am RST!"

"RST???"

"Ryzom Standard Time..."

"Ryzom what??!?"

"umm.. nevermind.." *click*

:D

But I like your idea tho ;)

if you think about it it would be beneficial because if everyone talked in RST -Ryzom Standard Time - you would only ever have to do one conversion - which you would learn by heart pretty fast - to put things into perspective in your timezone. As it stands at the moment different events are advertised in completely different timezones - which means you have to make the conversion from different timezones each time...

comprende? :)

then go off GMT :p because it still will be the same ... there is still DLS in to think about ... so its no different really ... It would be the same as using GMT/BST or EDT/EST...

Beg to differ, if you go off GMT, or UTC more properly, there's no DayLightSaving to consider. If you know your country's difference, you're set. UTC doesn't have a daylight saving time/summertime. At my location, I'm at UTC+1, UTC+2 in the summer months, that's easy enough to remember... so if someone gives me a date at UTC, I can make my part of the conversion quick and easy - same story the other way round, I convert to UTC and all are set.

Apart from that, a working Atys Calendar in game would be great, of course!
