Unfortunately, I think 7 days for a trial is just not enough time

I have been able to play for about 2 days time due to work and all that. Already, I received a message about having to subscribe, and I haven't even had a chance to get off the noobie island. I have a strong feeling such a small trial period is going to dissuade people from actually deciding to stay. Not everyone has the opportunity to play each and every day. I had a little time on the weekend, and I haven't had any time since. The next chance I get to play will require me to first give credit card information and be charged.

Personally, I think this is hurting the game designers because I can imagine quite a few people like me who just aren't sure if this IS the game, yet their time is up before they have the chance to decide.

Anyway, I know people don't care, but just thought I'd put out this perspective because I get the feeling there's a good game here. There just hasn't been enough time to make that decision.

guess it depends on the individual.. I was hooked after the first night ;-)

A time based trial ie 40hrs or something would be useful for ppl who dont get to play every day, but not sure if its something that's very easy to implement.

you could always risk a months sub, its the price of a few drinks in the pub after all...

You could always make a second trial account I guess. You'd have to start your character again but it could give you a better feel for the game ;)

I would agree with you, sarbonn, if you had to fork out £40, say, to buy the game, but it's just £8.50 for the sub. Then if you wanted you could cancel straight away, to avoid the recurring charge just in case you forget later (*cough*), and play out your month's sub.

I would tend to agree that it's too short.

Yeah, I thought making it a week was a bad move myself. Oh well...

Well, the cool thing is with the 7 day trial you can upgrade it too a full account and only pay the monthly. So imagine it like this: you pay 1 months sub to see if you like it VS getting a new game that costs twice (if not more) than 1 months sub and finding out that you do or don't like it. Just a thought

Yep, that's exactly what I did, and it was the second trial account (and third character created) that really got me hooked. A two week trial would be a wonderful thing in my opinion.

I'm seeing plenty of reasons here to make the trial period longer, or based on a week played instead of a calendar week. Nobody can pack 168 hours' playtime into one week, I don't care HOW good you are ;) I'm pretty sure they can keep track of how long an account is logged in, and it shouldn't be that tough to base the timing of the subscription notice off of an actual week's played time, instead of 7 days from creating the account.

While some folks are hooked into the game from their first moment in game, you really have to give others time to let it grow on them :D Other games are allowing 14 day trials, why can't this one? 7 calendar days, in my opinion, is just too short. 'Nuff said.
