Homins I bring you a brief biography of Shaly Nara and the text of last night's speech:
Shaly Nara
Having shown great early promise as a one handed fighter, Shaly was sent to study for a year in each capital to learn the arts of the other Homins: politics with the Matis, fighting and the Pyr academy and meditation and concentration techniques with the Zorai.
From these trips abroad, she retains a fierce Nationalism, since most of the foreigners considered her as barely noteworthy due to her size and race. Shaly then returned to Fairhaven and entered the Guild of Try, slowly climbing ranks to become their leader.
She has vowed to give her life to protect the Federal State of Trykers, be it from other homins or from Kitins or goo. She is not very prone to compromises, but knows the advantages of using politics and not brute force. Close friend to Still Wyler, since she was the head of his personal guard, she takes his death as a failure on her part, and would like to be next governor to revenge him and redeem herself in the eyes of her people.
Shaley is a traditional Karavan supporter, and is pro-Matis politically. She is supported by the Karavan spokesperson, Lakera and members of the guild of Try
Shaly's Speech
Freedom and Trust - short words my Tryker friends but ones of such importance!
These are the qualities of the Tryker people at their best, and they are the guiding principles of my policies. This manifesto is built on these principles principles that I believe must underpin the government of these lands, but which are too often lacking in public life today.
FREEDOM
Because I believe that individuals should govern their own lives, free from unnecessary interference by government or society. So we want to build a society which gives individual Trykers and Trykettes opportunities to pursue their aims, develop their talents and shape their successes. A land where people are free to shape their future is stronger, wealthier, happier, and more fulfilled.
It makes no sense to me that local decisions are taken by distant bureaucrats or politicians, we need to reunite the government with the people of the lake lands and ensure that we run a true and fair democracy.
We need to take a step back and see what the successive governments have undervalued. Only then will we see that our arts, culture and heritage have slowly been hollowed out and abandoned for the "greater good" of inter homin relations. That Tryker freedoms have been bartered away in the name of unity and that tryker beliefs are diluted and weakened by input from the Kami and other homin cultures.
TRUST
Because to deliver freedom and fairness, we need to give citizens the power to hold government to account. So I want to see government brought closer to the people it is meant to serve which is why I am committed to curtail the personal power and patronage of the Governor, strengthen Tryker democracy and hand many powers back from inter homin bodies to our local community with real democratic control over those who wield power. No more will our policies be affected by the decisions taken in distant lands! Trykers will control Tryker destiny and Trykers will respect the Karavan and all they stand for.
I pledge to ensure that every Tryker is trained and equipped with only the best weapon and armor. Only then can we protect ourselves from our neighbouring nations should they ever again choose to pursue more aggresive means of suppressing the Tryker nation.
Vote for me and vote for Tryker; Tryker traditions, Tryker freedom and Tryker Trust!
