Trouble starting game, memory could not be "read"

The instruction at "0x77c3d988" referenced memory at "0x0000000c". The memory could not be "read".

I assume this is a GFX card problem.

* WinXP w/Service pack 1 (yeah, I know but I experienced some gaming trouble with SP 2 when it was released)
*Nvidia Geforce FX 5200.

Have the latest Nvidia drivers, 84.21 and latest DirectX (just installed from Microsoft's site).
Also tried with no sound and checked off all boxes on the Advanced tab in the configuration menu

Let me add that I've never had this problem before.

Suggestions please?

Try forcing a refresh of the game DLLs by deleting the UNPACK folder.
Run the 'check data' option from the launcher while you are at it :)

Other things that cause this problem:
- RAM problems
- cooling issues
- drivers installed improperly (didn't remove the older ones and reboot before installing the newer ones)

Just did an uninstall and disabled Norman AV. Works fine now :-)
