i really hope, there are so many neewbe out there....and another one(wich is me)dont change anything. =) i just wanted to say hi to this community.
i m an italian player(please try to understand this kind of english) with the "usual" mmo's background(Uo,Daoc,Ao,L2,SwG,WoW) but i guess is time for me to try something new...

the "usual" friend told me about SoRyzom and its great "atmosphere"-"background"-and "gameplay"....so i thought....lets try at least the trial...

im really impressed(really impressed^_^) with EVERY aspect of the game....

but when i saw the "timeline" stuff with all of those episodes,events,storyline stuff....i thought that someone like me who start the game now, maybe, would get a little "lost"...(little stands for:"where the hell am i?oh look, a flying yubo.....")
i read at least half the "lore" stuff on the site and the forum, but still cant have the grip on storyline......i mean....after 2 years of life, this game can still involve new player or is just about an elite of those who play since the beginning?

anyway....i ll keep playng, even if i couldnt meet anyone wich is not an npc outside the starter island...

the timeline is a little confusing, seeing we don't know what year it is lol
Don't worry, you will get the lore as you go. Many missions are centered around it, called rites. You will get access to an encyclopedia when you start doing rites. And as you progress more knowledge will be passed on to you.

Enjoy your life on Atys, and ask around if you meet some homins, most are very friendly

The current year is 2532, but this is winter of the last cycle (four four-season cycles per year), so it will be 2533 soon.

New players can certainly be involved. Just...involve yourself. If you roleplay, interact with other characters. Establish your presence and what kind of homin your character is, and what their goals are. If you don't RP, interact with other players and establish yourself. Join a guild (if you RP --> HighRP guild), participate in events (both official and player-run), etc.

The game suggests that you are a young refugee, it would be completely natural not to know every aspect of the lore. Like Karm says, you'll learn as you play. "Where the h*ll am I" is a fair question from a newcomer.

The skill system in the game is set up in a way so most veterans will still be able to team up with newly arrived refugees.

You are now at the mainlands? Do a /who to see who is in your region. You will find that people are usually helpful.

If you´ve been teleported yet by the Kami, or Karavan to the Main lands then you should not have any problems finding help. Just ask in region chat
