Would melee ever use light armour?

Post by bfalkner »

Or are they better always sticking to heavy? How about ranged?

Just trying to work out what armour is best for doing what. :)

Melee usually use heavy or medium armor, as they usually need a lot of HP and protection to take hits.
Ranged often use medium, because they usually aren't the ones taking the hits, and medium armor results in lower use of stamina than heavy armor, while still giving protection.

I do use for light armor for melee when I'm fighting Psyklopas or Stingas. They both use magic attacks only. While the heavy armor helps in HP's, it doesn't reduce the damage at all and it does make your actions cost more. Otherwise, use heavy or medium.

Yes light armour is generally for support melee's in a team or for plants which do magic damage. Medium and Heavy have improved HP, but increased action penalty meaning actions cost more.

When you are honing your skill in Ranged you can use light quite efectively but dont stand toe to toe, hit the Beastie on the move (kite it) this saves alot on stam penalty and the chances are when you get it right you wont get bitten at all.

If your Shootin in a tight spot, or find yourself on the wrong end of a group of Homin with a different outlook on life, then med is the way to go with ranged, for the odd bump (or huge dirty great pointy sharp nasty weapon thingy) that life may throw against you.

Wearing LA is fine if your in a team, it gives you more flexibility to change over as needed. Depending on your level and stats, MA/HA's HP and parry bonuses are big when tanking and in PvP.
