This and that.

I'm feeling frustrated. The issue of content in this game, is a recurring one. I feel like redressing it.

The role out of new content since patch one, has felt so few and far between. There's only so much grinding and RP'ing one can do.

Out post's are boring, they don't offer much, there's no point being around them physically, and the rewards they give for owning them? XP Cats and Mats :(
I've always thought the whole XP Cat idea was a poor one, I got the impression the levels that some people had worked on way back when, were being undermined. Everyone is an avatar and master these days. Even still, to be honest I think everyone would still be maxed now anyway.

It's been so long since we've had something new to do, or work on.
I'd guess your probably digging and crafting regularly now, you probably like it alot.

Patch one was the best, it brought in actual content, like the mounts, chunks of stuff that was fun, the little things.
I want 20 new craft plans, 300 level cap, a new planet to explore, I want a new race to be discovered. I think it's the small things like new weapons, armour , bosses and such that is what should be produced for atys

I'm getting the feeling Spires will be like outposts, the bonuses they will provide will probably be underwhelming and after a short while people will be bored and not fight over them.
I really regret that the contenents were devided up into regions in the first place.

One big thing I've thought about over the past few months is the PvP issue and all things relating to it in Ryzom. I love the history, lore and everything to do with Kami Vs Karavan, it's a fantastic story, and has won an award because of that, but is this game really a PvP game?
I get the impression Homins of all races like exploring this gorgeous planet, and making shiny things with supremely good mats they looted by slaying rarely seen monsters in the depths of the prime roots. They like to protect the Planet from the ever poisenous Goo, and the ever apparent threat from the Kitin.

If you remember back to the time we were building our sanctuarys, Homins had organised peace, because they would rather focus their energys on gathering the materials faster, so their sanctuarys would be erected quicker. It was so bizarre to watch the sap field populated by both kami and karavan, the feeling that hundreds could die so easily, but homins were choosing to wield their picks instead of their weapons, it was hopeful and compelling.

This community makes this game what it is, we have a huge impact on the world and what happens, you proved that through nuetrality in a large number of Homins. Nevrax saw that Homins would not simply choose one side or the other, that some Homins weren't interested in fighting and they incorporated something that would address that issue.

I don't know, I just get the feeling Nev is miss guided. People don't honestly come to this game for the PvP do they? I came for the exploration, character progression and community.
I don't know what point in particular I'm trying to make to be honest. I'm not going anywhere, I'll be here to see things through, I just hope Nev are sure about the direction their choosing to take.
What are others opinions?

I've said this before, and I still feel the same way: I don't need official content. I find all the content I could want in day-to-day RP and the excellent events run in the Dragonblades. :)
There's only so much grinding and RP'ing one can do.
Hmm...I wouldn't use the word "one"...rather "I" or "most"...

I can never get tired of RP because it is, by its nature of being a creative activity, infinitely flexible. If I got tired of RPing something, I'd RP something else, like throwing some character-developing/changing event into one of my characters' lives. I'm currently providing myself with a challenge: RP having a child. If I ever got tired of RPing a particular character, well, I have five to choose from, each with different lives, personalities, stories, and possibilities.

As for grinding, I simply don't. I train sometimes, yes, but if I get bored I stop and do something "more constructive."

What you have said here means a lot to me. It is what I stand for too. I also look for the things that make this world as I imagine it to be. Roleplaying can only get you so far as I am sure you agree.

My most recent idea stems from Lord of the Rings. I watched the 3 films again recently and I have been inspired anew about what could be achieved.

More specifically I thought of having interactive ghosts ingame. These ghosts would be our forefathers from all four races. They would be giving a more in-depth purpose to our role on Atys as well as being a second/third party, providing a background to warfare and other major events.

I have to agree with you Final, OPs have been a major disappointment so far. They COULD have been so much more: stables, trainers, NPC guards that protect the area (except during an attack maybe), more storage, a guild mission giver and so on and so on....

Instead they give give a shortcut that takes away any real meaning to the lvls you gain. I EARNED every single level I gained before XP cats were introduced, now people can just jump in and zoom through them like they aren't there.

Since this is an MMO and part of the POINT of playing the game is to improve your toon, doesn't that seem like taking something away from the game? Sure does to me. I have taken a vow against using cats, I am not alone in this either, they are the root of all evil. :D

Well, just now a fantastic opportunity for RP came up.
The unexpecterd death of Still Wyler prompted me to organise a silent march of rememberence thorugh Aeden Aquidus.
Sorry, but I can´t quite understant those who say: "There´s only so much RP to do."
This is like saying, there´s only so much Real Life to do.
So, you´ve allready done EVERYTHING you can do in life/RP?

How sad your Life must be.

Nevrax could allow players to play as Kitins. Open it up as a playable race. That would be kinda cool :D

Well for a start I think you're missing the point of Final's post. You're seizing on one statement he made within his post that has only minor bearing on his point - which is the lack of any substantial content. Final's (and mine for that matter) main point is that OPs have been a dissapointment. His reference to RP (IMHO - I could be wrong of course) is merely to emphasise that he wants something APART from RP, which is all they seem to offer. RP and empty content.

Secondly, be careful, this is bordering on a flame IMHO.

around and around in circles we go...

You know one of the main reasons I like & look forward to new content?
Because it gives Philu something else to moan about rather than the same thing, over and over... :p

I've said this too often. So I'm going to put it in short and simple form.

*OPs - PvP Content - You dont like it - Hard luck - Some people do - You cant please everybody all the time - You'd like to see more done with them - wouldn't we all - Nevrax is small - They can only do so many things at once - re-read 10 times *
