Well after playing Everquest for 5 years and my accout closing on me, a change was in order.
Saw this in 'GAME's 'bargin bin' so here to have ago. One good question, were is everyone? The game as put me on a french server for some resson. No, I'm not french. I'm ended being 'born' that some 'Trading post' (it mit be an idea for me to look up the names >_< ) Been on twice and no one around.
I was hope to meet up and help with 'finding things to do'. Its getting loney out here

You're on a starter island. Leave it and go to the mainland as soon as you're comfortable with the interface. There's more people on the mainland.
As for being put on the French server...well, that's odd...it's called Aniro right?
Anyway, welcome.

The Ryzom installer asks whether you want the English, French or German version. English has always been the default when I have had to reinstall, but perhaps an inadvertent flick of the mouse wheel might have selected French as you clicked Continue ? The language selection determines which of the 3 servers will be available when you login.
So it may be that the easiest thing for you to do is to reinstall and start a new character on the English server. If you decide to do this, I think you can bypass most of the patching by reinstalling into a different folder to your original installation, then copying the data folder across from your original, already patched, folder.

Or you may ask for a Server transfere. But in the free trial it´ll be rather pointless, just "reinstall" with the tip above and create a new Charakter.
Go to the Main Land whenever you´re OK with the User Interface and enjoy a great Game
And Scarazi... err, could it be that he was just mistaken and accidentaly doubleposted... It´s no use either to be rude to a new friend.

To change game language, you just go to game configuration, and choose different language. To switch to a different server, you should be able to do that in the first 2 weeks of your account trough account management.
No re-installing needed.

Firstly, change servers unless you speak french
then post your race and name so people can help ya ingame.
Secondly, this is a much quieter game than Everquest, and depending on the race you play you may not see anyone on the starter island. Matis and Tryker are the most populated.
Once your confident with your skill head to the mainland, you will find morep eople there, but it will still be much quieter than your used to, this is not neccerceraly a bad thing though.

thx, I was wondering if anyone still played. There as been a number of releases as late. Alot of games have failed by the wayside.
As for my 'slip od the mouse' as jamela said, the answer is no. In fact I had alot of trouble trying to set up the account. After trying and trying, back fore in webpages I finaly goto to 'accout done' page. However then everthing turned French. In sever list there was no other server but the french one to pick. My windows are still english, so are the npcs talking in english but I'm on a freach server
Of course I emailed for help with my problems BUT the GM just said 'It can't be are system, it's not bugged'. Want to bet on that?

Yea, you can change that when logging into account management (you have to use the special password for that, btw, not the one you use for the game itself). There you should be able to choose for 14 days between Arispotle, Aniro and Leanon, or English, French and German community.
