Ryzom

This is day 2 for me and I have enjoyed it so far. Just a couple questions though. I am at 21 magic and high teens in craft/harvesting. Is that sufficient to leave the starter town? It's pretty dang quiet here and can be kinda boring with no one to talk to or group with 99% of the time. I don't think I have a clear picture of where this is all going yet. I love crafting and like the harvesting aspect too...is there more to do elsewhere?

FYI, I'm a 3 yr veteran of DAOC <Dark Age of Camelot> currently looking for something new and fresh. This could be it if there is more than what I've been doing.

Yeh 21 would be sufficiant, Thou Personaly I would work Some melee too before comming to mainland. But you dont have to. There are noticbly more people on the mainland of course. Dont be afraid to ask anyone Questions there. And yeh this game is Definatly diffrent from DoaC, Particuarly with reguards to the PvP side of things. Any ways have fun, and be sure to Talk to people once you do make it to the Mainland.

Sure. You can leave anytime, though there are various recommendations on when the best time is. Some say to wait until you've gotten a 20 or 21, others say to leave as soon as you're comfortable with the interface.

Well, that depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for EQ- and WoW-esque quests, you pretty much won't find them. In Ryzom, the story and such is mostly advanced/revealed through live events, both GM- and player-run. The exception is that there are a few special, more complex missions called rites which reward with a special skill, stat bonus, or something like that, and a short story added to your Encyclopedia (press E).

If you're looking for PvP, you will find it in various forms.
- Duels: Consensual, 1vs1, anywhere (except inside guild halls).
- Matis Arena: A small PvP arena in the forest.
- Faction vs. Faction (FvF): After working up your fame with a faction (Karavan or Kami) a bit, you can do kind of rite to swear allegiance to that faction. Then you can turn on your FvF tag, which allows you to attack players of the opposite faction who also have their tags on, and vice versa.
- Outposts: A guild can attack an outpost occupied by another guild. Though intended to be Guild vs. Guild (GvG), often the battles to attack/defend outposts are essentially faction vs. faction because most guilds are either Karavan or Kami aligned and a guild usually calls upon all its allies to help.
- Prime Roots: Part of the underground caverns called the Prime Roots are openGvG-enabled.

If you're looking for roleplay, well, I'll just say Ryzom actually does deserve to be called an mmoRPg.

21 is plenty high to leave the mainland... when you know the basics, you're ready.

The mainland of all the races, especially Matis & Tryker, will have many more people to help out. Due to the terrain layout it may not be as busy near the Zorai and Fyros capitals but a question in region will still most likely garner a response.

We have been giving suggestions on a way to make the starter isles more immersive for long time without success in making a change. Pretty much most recommend to leave it ASAP

I landed on the mainland and met some uber peeps right away. Faa from Team Spirit gave me more info and advice that I could possibly use and I joined the guild. Next couple of hours spent traversing the worlds, dying, leveling and having a great time. Think I found my new home

So glad your enjoying yourself. I guess you learned now why we all advise new players to visit the mainland before deciding on the game
