Well, I shouldn't say that I'm cynical, but rather I'm very critical. I've tried SoR a few times earlier on and didn't like, but the more I've tried everything else, the more I found SoR was in fact better than most for three reasons.

First, I have to say that the non-traditional fantasy/scifi romp in SoR is a plus. It reminds me of Asheron's Call(1 and 2), and thus it hits close to my heart[since AC1 was my first MMO, heh]. Also, since it doesn't completely borrow directly on any fiction that I'm aware of it makes the game more so pleasing to explore.

Second, I love the skill system, but I do hope they expand it with possible specializations in the future[just a wish, it doesn't really take away from the experience, only adds to it...].

Third, and final point, I just love the Yubos even though I slay them. They're just so cute. ^__^

So, Hello, and such. I'll probably milk the trial until the last day then upgrade to a regular account. Yes, I'm a cheapskate. ^^;

you could add to this the community quality, the technical support and some other.... but it's nice to see somebody who thinks so much the same as myself. It's not that SoR is perfect, but it stands comparison with most that's outside on the market.

Hi Bridget, and welcome, from a fellow cynical / critical MMO player On my travels I've decided that, in my opinion, where an MMO has an area where it beats Ryzom, it generally lets itself down in enough areas to counteract the positive side One aspect that seems to fail time and again is the community - the more mainstream a community, the more anger and frustration can be seen on the surface - day in, day out. Sometimes it even has nothing to do with the game itself...

And enjoy your stay. It warms my heart to see such enthusiastic new people around, when some old ones are even more cynical and still don´t understand what all is about here but stay nevertheless.
And, for whatever reason, it seems that SoR is on all Servers an extremely friendly comunity.
