Now, I realise this may have been covered before - if so, I apologise.

Went looking for mats in pr the other day, and came across the Sap Gleaners. Wandered towards there camp to shake off an aggro, which they did, then proceeded to kill me! Went and did a mission for them, and find my fame is -65, which was a little frustrating, as missions in the Abyss are a little tricky, especially solo. But hey, that's life.
However, since they are a (Zorai?) Kami tribe, I was hoping to get my fame high, as I like to do that with Kami tribes in general. But according to the cap bar, the most I can get is -50! What is the reasoning behind this cap? If it's civilization - I'm Fyros, and even my matis fame can go up to 0. And I'm at +60 Kami fame, so I thought they'd be willing to make friends...

Come across a couple of others that seem to hate me for no apparent reason, and not be willing to ever like me, and will only just barely tolerate me at best. Is there any pattern to this, or is it a bit hit-and-miss?

I guess even if a tribe is the same race as you, and believes in the same faction, they may not stand for the same goals. They may follow the kami but shun the main civilisation of their kindm hence why they live in the roots?

There is a zorai tribe (tutors iirc) who hate everyone except the Zorai. Sometimes race and alignment don't always mean they'll like you. Some of them have tricky likes and dislikes.

Each tribe has a different outlook on life. They each have a different relationship with the four races. Of the 52 tribes, only the Green Seed tribe is actually positive (non-zero starting fame) about every race. All civilizations have hostile rebellious tribes in their outlying regions. The Chlorogoos, the Lawless and the Lagoon Brothers will kill strangers of every race on sight. The Sap Gleaners will tolerate only strange Zorai, killing all other strangers. You can do fame missions for the Sap Gleaners from their affiliated outlying npcs to raise your fame up to -50 at which point they will stop killing you (and save you from aggro).
