An epistle from Xalis

Homins, I have received this epistle from Xalis:

Greetings honourable homins of Fyros, I hope you haven’t forgotten me.

I may not be in the senate yet, but I am still a fairly important man in merchant circles and a proud Fyros. It is my intention to journey to Yrkanis to Honour the Matis King's parade. I do this as a Fyros, not at any bequest of the Emporer. Our presence shall remind Atys that the Fyros are not only honourable but disciplined too and as we watch the matis parade their finery in an atmosphere of peace. We can then discuss the current tensions and their trade implications and renew old friendships.

I would also use this wonderous occasion to take the young Fyros whom have not seen the forests of matis, escorted by a host of veterans what better way is there to visit such a verdant land for the first time.

Those that can bring pride to our honourable nation and allies who also wish the same, meet on Sunday by the Cerakos Gate in Pyr, be prepared by 6pm UK time (BST) for we shall leave promptly, journeying to Thesos, to Hidden Source, Then Yrkanis itself, be sure to have teleport pacts home and dapper for new Pacts to purchase.

(Edited for summer Time)

A pilgrimage to the verdant forests, how wonderful! I do hope everyone will be dressed to the nines and resplendent in Pyr's latest styles.

Oooh, do be careful not to get your finery creased or dusty. You should walk very carefully.

I recommend you bring a change of clothes. Wear something practical on your journey (in case you get some blood on it or something; there's lots of very hungry cuttlers/torbaks in Hidden Source). And then duck behind a tree when you arrive in Yrk to change into your finery. The Matis will never know the difference.

Oh, and you may be tempted to rest at Berello Gorge along the way. As it's current occupant, we certainly welcome you, but do watch out for a certain named Kirosta that wanders nearby. Our guards are good at fending off attacks from hostile homins, but tend to cower behind the drill when they see that monstrosity.

We've implemented beatings to see if that will improve moral, but so far, it has not.

Bah, all I see here is a ruse by a populist Fyros politician to show leadership by sneaking his armies into our towns.

"OUR" king requested us to parade for HIM. He neither asked for nor desires to see the clumsy Fyrosians during this show of Matisian pride. He wants to inspect his honor guard, the proud citizens of Verdant Heights.

[OOC]While writing this all I could think of was the Captain in the movie "Stripes" asking "Sergeant, are those my men ?" [/OOC]

Xalis Speech

"Once we were a great Empire, once the other homin feared and respected us, our strength, our might, our industry, our drive. Now what are we? Warriors to be run to when help is needed, grunting ‘Frahar’ to be ridiculed when we are not needed.

Without us Zorai would be a pool of goo. Without us Matis would be reigned over by an evil King. Without us the Tryker would be slaves.

We are the pre-eminent race on Atys, the warriors, the explorers. We take the sacred duty of hunting the dragon. We dwell in the harsh desert through choice and sacrifice much for the sake of others.

No more Martyrdom I say! No more shall we bear the weight of Atys on our shoulders! It is time we began to look after ourselves.

The Kami need to understand that we must build to be strong, they must stop holding us back from the full exploitation of the scant resources of the desert. We need to claim the rest of the desert lands across Atys as our own.

If they can make an exception, allow us to rip the materials from the ground in massive quantities in the old lands for their temples, if they can let us bore deep into the bark with these drills, then they can allow us to dig for the materials that will make us strong in battle.

The Fyrosian heart is so full of passion it needs room to beat. The deserts of Zorai and Matis are ours for the taking, ours by right. Payment for the sacrifices we have made for them.

Vote for me and take the path back to Empire.

Vote for me and regain what it means to by Fyrosian."
Dose this sound like someone that is just going to watch a parade?
I never have trusted this Fyros, he seeks to take the Matis lands by force. I ask all Matis to keep an eye on him while he is in our lands.

I plan to do better... I'll be mustering some of our countrymen to accompany Xalis' entourage all the way from Cerakos gate to our Matisian capitol. I'm sure the Fyros travelers and their allies won't object to additional help on this dangerous journey. ;-)
