Shorthand...

I wish the badword filter would be used to replace shorthand with real words.

People who post with excessive amounts of shorthand make their posts sound really stupid. The poster might not be stupid at all, but their post makes them seem like they are at least very lazy. It also makes their posts almost unintelligible. When I read these posts, I can't help but hear the voice of a small child...

Come on, this is a forum not cellphone text messaging. You have time and space to type out the actual words (and use the backspace key when you make a typo!).

Capitalization - If you can hit the shift key to type quotation marks, exclamation marks, etc., why can't you do the same for "I," the first letters in sentences, names, and such?

Enter key - It exists! Use it! It'll make your post easier to read. Paragraphs exist for a reason.

And one more thing. Why replace "s" with "z"?

Is this all some pop-punk-L337-gangsta-speak I am unaware of?

dun = don't
plz/pls = please
thx/thnx = thanks
u = you
ur = your (or you're...though people who would use "ur" usually don't know the difference)
m8 = mate
w/o = without
ppl = people
coz/cos = because
hav = have (come ON...shortening a four letter word to three letters?)
dint = didn't
im = I'm
whit = with (thought this was just a typo at first...but it seems some people do it intentionally)
bk = back
gd = good
n = and
tho = though

Oh my God, Helomax.... like that's mature. katriell is just stating her concerns about a certain aspect. No need to mock. :P

You can add to the list

gz, grats = congratulations

I completely agree that this way of speaking is quite frankly rubbish and I'd be happy to see the back of it. However I know I'm not a shining example...

Ryzom has a high % mature players, infact i know only a few players below the age of 18, maybe you would be better suited in WoW?

*laughs*

I think it's impossible to beat the leet. In WoW I tried several addons to filter the leetspeak, but it never worked as it should.

While using abbrevations is faster for the writer it takes more time to dechiffer for a reader. It all comes down with how interested you are in communicating with others.

English != first language for everyone who plays this :p

And yes, I used an abbreviation there; so sue me ;)
