Hi guys, ive been reading through the forums for the past hour and have noticed how freindly you all seem to me so i thought id start my own thread to ask a few questions about the game to find out if this is the game for me.
Firstly a bit about myself and my gaming preferences. I have tried practically all the online games there is and beta tested several upcoming ones and have yet to find the one thats gonna keep me hooked for years to come. I loved SWG but then i think we all know what happened there and i was left with an empty shell of a game. In my games i like a big open world with lots of exploration and things to do. Quests and a brilliant storyline are things that i need as well as a crafting system and maybe a bit of roleplay. Basically always being able to log on and have fun whether it be doing quests or just having a laugh is what im looking for.
I dont mind if the game doesnt have millions of players on it as long as there is people around and i also wondered whether there was player housing because i loved that aspect of SWG.
thx for taking the time to read this and i hope to hear from people with whether this will be the game for me (fingers crossed). I hate to thinkj that i have to wait months for another online game to come out
Looking to buy this game, some advice needed :)

Welcome to Atys Mojo0080!
Well, ofcourse its hard to answer your question 'Will this be the one?' as that depends a lot on what you like etc. Personally I like the background, the skillsystem and the way the planet is alive. Also the storyline is very interesting, but the quests are lacking a bit imo. (I hope R2 will make a difference to that, when players can make their own quests).
But what really is best is the community in this game. I havent found that anywhere else in released online games. Only in beta's sometimes it feels the same, but that changes when the game is released for some reason.
And we have to disapoint you, there are no player housings in the game like SWG. You can buy your own appartment, but only can enter it, and put stuff in it, but not decorate it. So its more like a shed then a real appartment.
Hope you like the game, and come visit the beach of Fairhaven and drink a famous tryker cocktail there in the bar!

Thx for the reply it sounds like a great game, i can live without pleyer housing tbh thats just a nice added feature. as long as the player base is alive and freindly.
Also, will i often find myself with nothing to do or can i always log on and do something like crafting, and finally if there arent many quests, what is there to do, whats the pvp system like for example.
Oh and which server is the most populated? i am english btw so i would prefer playing with english speaking people.

Harvesting and crafting are for me a thing to do between teaming and lvling combat skills or just having a quiet time, its a very chilled thing to do if you get a bit too much killing mobs, PvP at the moment is an optional thing, for example i am kami but if i dont wish to be attackable i can turn my PvP tag off ( 1 hour cool down) but when i want to become involved again can be turned back on (5min warm up time)
the servers are split into, french/german/english. Arispotle the english server is what you will want, enjoy the game its a gd en

If you are expecting SoR to have a real questing system you will be horribly dissapointed. The closest thing to any form of quests are the few working Encyclopedic Rites or Ritual Missions of which some might not even be available to you due to possible choices you make on Citizenship and Guilds (as both these things relate to one another once you make a choice on Citizenship; Citizenship =! the race of the avatar you create)
These Rites will require you to perform a number of Missions (as in observe the fauna, kill 5 of these critters, scout out that region, craft me 5 caster pants with a left cross-stitch while jumping up and down on your right leg, ....) in exchange for dappers or Kami 'gratitude', which will keep you occupied for quite a while before you get the final reward.

again thx for the advice, im definetely gonna try this game. 1 more question, is there player events like in SWG. so far the community has been great from what ive read on these forums so i could imagine events being cool if there are some.
Re: Looking to buy this game, some advice needed :)
Theres alot of different events depending on what you like in a MMO, samsaras offer some great RP pub nights held often, player events are regular but if you like masive raids by big arse agro mobs triyng to control atys they dont happen as often as people might likemojo0080 wrote:again thx for the advice, im definetely gonna try this game. 1 more question, is there player events like in SWG. so far the community has been great from what ive read on these forums so i could imagine events being cool if there are some.

ok im in the process of patching now so i hope to see ya online it definetely sounds like the game for me. I have never tried roleplay due to being a bit shy and needing a bit of advice about it really, but i would love to give it a go and this game sounds like it encourages it.
Thx for all your help.
