Chapter 4 May the Guardians be Reborn

Windra awoke covered head to toe in ice cold sweet, heart pounding he looked around to see where he was. He was in his room, resting in his cot, his boots were on the floor next to his cot and the amber lamp that was next to his bed was out. The only glow came from the amber light balls on the tables which cast a calm relaxing glow around the room. He waved his hand over his amber lamp and set it to a light glow then Windra laid down to try and calm down from what had just happened.

“This makes no sense wasn’t I at the Silt camp with my friends, we were going to unite the races. But I’m home, but this doesn’t feel like the home I know.” Windra thought as he wiped the cold sweat from his face.

He turned over and looked out the aqua window the lake was dark which meant it was night. Then he heard the portal to his room activate and the door slid open. A women the size of a Karavan walked in, she was dressed in the finest white silk that Windra had ever seen, among the white were blue trim. She had flowing dark blue hair that came down to her shoulder blades. With emerald eyes and the face of a goddess she was the most beautiful woman Windra had even seen.

With out thinking Windra jumped from his cot and ran towards the nearest dresser and tried to open it but it didn’t open. Armed with nothing Windra formed a shockwave ball and was about ready to toss it at the intruder but he stopped. The teachings of the Karavan ran through his mind then he remembered a painting he saw at the Tryker grand hall. A woman in a silk white dress with blue trim, long dark blue hair, emerald eyes and the face of a goddess, it was Jena.

“I must be dreaming this cant be.” Windra choked as he stopped the flow of energy to the shockwave ball which then vanished.

“Windra calm down I’m sorry if I scared you, but I must talk to you about the night your parents died. I would take a seat this is a long story.” Jena said pointing towards the nearest seat.

Windra sat down at once afraid and slightly curios about what was going one.

“What is this? You’re not Jena! This place isn’t real there’s no sense of life, ah this doesn’t seem right, ah my head.” Windra stumbled mind spinning.

Jena walked over to Windra and put her hand on his forehead. A wave of healing rushed through his body like a wave of water. Jena then took a seat on the couch next to Windra.

“Windra I know this seems very strange and I know you want to know why very one acts so strange around you. Sadly I can only tell you why your parents died and release a grand gift that has been sleeping within you. Jena said I calming voice.

“A gift?” Windra asked while he rubbed his hands for a strange feeling had fallen upon them.

“Windra do you remember the story of Nexus and the Alter of Light?” Jena asked.

“Some what.” Windra said trying to avoid the goddess gaze.

“Well it’s real as is Nexus. You see your parents were two of the alter’s protectors, they left that day when they got word that the alter was in danger. A dark force was trying to steal the magic from the alter. If the power of the alter is taken the guardians will loss their power and darkness will rise again.” Jena said but she soon noticed that Windra had something on his mind.

“Speak what’s on your mind.” Jena said with a warm smile.

“Now I understand the guardians, the alter, my parents, Jena I’m a guardian aren’t I?” Windra asked with shaky hands.

“Yes you’re the Wind Guardian and Aqua is the Water Guardian, you took the place of your parents.” Jena said with a sigh.

“But if this is all true, then why did we feel our parents?” Windra said not sure what to believe.

“Your parents were the guardians before you, they knew they couldn’t stop the force that was after the alter, so they gave their power to their children. The only way to save the alter was to divide the power of the elements. This wasn’t supposed to happen.” Jena said smile gone her face.

“My hands!” Windra screamed clutching his hands.

“Windra remove your gloves now this may hurt but when I’m done the pain will vanish.” Jena told him as soon as she heard his scream, his power had awakened

Windra quickly removed his gloves to see that his hands were blood red.

“By the sacred time of the wind and of the sea let this homin receive the power of the legendary Wind Guardians.” As Jena said these words strings of light came from Jena’s fingertips and wrapped around Windra’s hands forming gloves. Then strings of blue light floated on to Windra’s hands from Jena’s hands just like the strings of light. But the blue strings form the symbol of wind on the top of each hand

“Jena what is this feeling I feel like I could glide across the LakeLands on the wind.” Windra asked slowly losing feeling in his hands.

The pain was dyeing but Windra was losing feeling in his hands and soon he couldn’t even lift a finger. Jena grab Windra’s hands as the strings of light traveled up his arms. He looked down to see this hands cover with a white light and on these gloves of light was the symbol of wind in blue light. Jena continued to chant as the strings of twist around his arms as they travel up.

“Twist and turn power of the Wind this homin carries the blood of the sacred guardians. Winds of the Desert Dunes, Winds of the Crystal Lakes, Winds of the Enchanting Forest, and Winds from the Mystic Jungle came back to your master and grant him the power he has forgotten.” As Jena chanted the white string split into strings of gold, green, and purple and traveled up Windra’s neck with the other two strings.

“Jena what’s happening?” Windra choked as he lost his ability to talk to move or even open his eyes.

“What’s going on is this warm feeling coming from those strings of light, why can’t I move? Is this really Jena or a Kami trick or have I gone insane, damn it Windra move protect yourself!” Windra bellowed in his mind.

Windra then felt a warm feeling on his face, but it was traveling along his tattoos; Windra had the wind swipe tattoo under each eye. He could also feel his hands moving until they were palm on palm. Then a feeling smoothness and warmness came they covered Windra’s hands. It was Jena, her hands now covered his.

“Be reborn Windra the Wind Guardian!” Jena called. It was a call that would make the world quake. Buts still it sound so beautiful it surly was the call of a goddess.

A white burst forth from Jena and Windra’s bodies, the light filled the room and burst out of the realm and into the realm of the living. The sacred alter in Nexus burst to life and sent a beam of light in the sky that could be seen from every area on Atys.

Every leader sensed that alter coming back to life, to make sure this was not a trick on their minds they walked outside. Even the Karavan and the Kami stopped what they were doing and glanced up at the sky. In the shadows a figure also watched the sky.

“It has begun.” They all said at the same time just as the beam of light died away with the alter.

“She’s the Water Guardian.” The Silt Chief said as he watched the water symbol on Aqua’s hands.

:”Aye they have a long journey ahead of them, come let her sleep as must we.” The Silt Sage said as she walked out of the tent, the Chief soon followed.

Just like turn of the tide Atys sprung to life as the warm rays of the sun shot across the sky. Just like the creature’s homins awoke and began their daily lives, merchants unpacked their stocks, guards switch shifts, and children play and asked questions about the world around them.

The Silt camp was no different the group awoke with the Silt when the cloppers started snapping their claws. In the center of the camp stood four Karavan, a gunner with a huge rifle in his hands, a scout, a officer who was dressed in red and a High Officer who was in white.

“Time to go, we know it’s early but it would be best to reach the jungle portal by night fall.” The Officer told the sleepy Trykers.

The Trykers just nodded as they ate some Ragus meat from last night.

“Hey where’s Windra didn’t he get up with us?” Aqua yawn scanning the camp but Windra was no where in sight.

“Brother you lazy sack of, oh never mind.” Aqua mumbled to herself as she walked to their tents.

As she lifted of the tent she saw her brother in his cot but something wasn’t right. It was to dark to see if her brother was ok, so she waved her hand to light the two amber lamps at the back of the tent. A smooth orange glow filled the tent and there at the second to lat cot was Windra, same cot where he fell asleep.

“Windra wake up we have to go.” Aqua said with a yawn. But Windra didn’t move.

“Windra wake up this isn’t funny!” Aqua yelled as she walked over to shake her brother.

“Oh boy this will get nasty.” The group snickered to each other when they heard Aqua yell.

“Windra really you’re scaring me so stop and get up.” Aqua said with a slight tremble.

“Brother are you ok?” Aqua asked but Windra did open his eyes. Aqua knew her brother to well something was wrong.

“Windra please wake up brother!” Aqua screamed as tears filled her eyes.

“Windra!” Aqua screamed eyes flowing down her checks.

“Aqua what’s wrong La’Beka cried tripping over the other who ran in with him.

“Windra he’s.” Aqua choked running to Ga’Lorda for comfort.

“What, Aqua its ok calm down.” Ga’Lorda said holding Aqua tight

“Please move let my healers look at him.” The Chief said as he walked in healers and Sage behind him.

“He’s fine but he seems to be in a premeditative state?” The Silt Leader told everyone as the Silt healers did antitoxin spells.

“He’s what?” Sa’Binga asked.

“It’s a type of sleep but its so deep one seems like their under a sleeping spell.” The Ve’Colad said as she escorted Aqua outside for some air.

“We’ll take him with us, he can sleep on his mount, but we have to leave now.” The Karavan High Officer said while the other Karavan troops finished packing up.

“Yes he’s completely fine he’ll awake soon.” The Chief said as he carried Windra outside to his mount.

With no other choice the group said their goodbyes and mounted on their mounts and set off. Aqua kept close to her brother wanting to be next to him when he awakes. To keep herself calm she played her flute as they rode to the portal. The ride was calm but Aqua’s playing pieced the hearts of everyone who heard it. It was joyful and yet filled with sorrow.

“Ah I can’t stand her feeling like this we need to tell them.” The Karavan Officer said his High Officer.

“I feel the same way but we cant we have our orders now keep quiet before they hear us.” The High Officer whispered to the others.

“Jena….mmm…..I need to protect my sister and the others.” Windra mumble as he twisted and turn in his sleep.

“Jena?” Aqua repeated in her mind.

“Welcome to Prime Root Trykers.” The Karavan Gunner said as they reach the portal.

The group dismounted and walked through the portal with the packers and mounts behind them. Prime Root was beyond their wildest dreams, it was a huge cavern plants of all colors, weird floating things that looked like mushrooms, bushes that spit exploding seeds, it was like every region of Atys had been twisted together to make a new one.
