Oh ... My ... God

I don't know how many times I've passed over the name of this game on the MMORPG game list without even thinking twice about it. I've been on the hunt for a new game since SWG started falling down. (CU for me .. ) I just quit WoW awhile ago and started hunting for a new game again.
I'm such a rabid fan of skill based games, I can't believe I've never looked at SOR before.
I'm currently in the process of downloading the game right now, so maybe you guys can help swoon me while I wait. I'll put some points I look for and see if anyone can confirm or deny them in ROF for me.
1) Solo game play -- I work funky hours and can't dedicate a lot of time to one sitting most of the time. This makes it difficult to play group games since most of my time can be spent just looking for a group. I'm not looking for uber solo, kill anything in the game by myself, type play. I would however be able to login, bash some bad guys for an hour, and log out while still making some progress in the game.
2) Semi easy leveling -- Well, not so much levels, but being able to progress without spending a month just to progress to the next level / skill set.
3) Friendly and mature player base -- Forums at least seem to be this. I'm not really a roleplayer, but nothing turns me off a game more than walking into a town and seeing "L337playa" talking to "pwnzj00" about how something suxx0rs or how leet they are. I like to actually see avartars with none phrase, normal seeming names.... well, normal for the game world anyways. ;D
4) Server stability -- I prefer not to see people screaming "LAAAAAAAAAAG", crashing to the desktop, or having to cold boot my PC every 5 minutes because of sorry servers or bad coding.
5) Something other than level grinding -- Just so many sewer rats and bats to kill before you're ready to do something else! hehe. Looks like there's a pretty decent crafting system in SOR. Lots of other neat things ingame to do other than bash A_Monster01 6000 times till next level?
If anyone would care to say "I love SOR because ______" I'd appriciate it. I'm in the market for a game to throw my monthly fees at, and I'm hoping it's SOR. hehe
PS: I was watching some of the videos from the site and I was confused by something. Some of those movies had what seemed to be space ships and guns. I was under the impression this was a sword and magic type game. Is it like a hybrid set in it's own universe or something? Was thrown by those clips.
Thanks!
