Forage query

I was wondering about taking up Forage.

I have a couple of hundred points in mage that I probably wont ever use. Would it be more advantageous for me to :

1. Create a new character with Forage as the three skill choices.

2. Just buy Forage start with 50 points and use my exisitng character.

I'm not really interested in crafting as I dont have time between Ele/Heal/Melee, but I figure that with Forage I could make a more significant contribution to my guild, other than, just Healer/Nuker.

Thank you :)

this one, with new char you _have to_ take up fight/ele/heal all over again to survive and be useful on rezing ppl around you when they blow themselves up.

You cannot gimp your character in SoR, and as suggested you should not make a new avatar (for this purpose at least). Just add forage to your current repetoire and work it as you can. I was Master in forage before I was over 150 in any other skill... but I worked them all still.

I would also suggest you don't write off crafting, if you're gonna forage... crafting helps you earn dappers quickly and keeps you in a good supply of boots :P

Yes, it is a good earner, but TBH I wouldn't have the time to go looking for the correct mats for receipes and killing/digging just to make an item, I dont really have the correct mindset for it either.

I tried crafting on newbie island and left there with alot more dappers than any other character I tried. But that was simple stuff with the raw material already in my inventory.

If I had to go hunting for particular mats, I think it would take the fun/spontaneity out of killing mobs for me. :(

You wouldn't ever have to go hunting for mats, if you didn't want to. You could sell your foraged materials on the markets and then it wouldn't matter what you got ;)

No akicks :) I meant hunting for mats specifically to use for crafting myself :)

See if you change your mind as you level Forage, I'd say ... you'll have the points to spare in Magic if you change your mind.
