Policy: Actions Taken Against Misbehaving Players - Additional Information

Lately, we became less tolerant with exploiting, the use of third party software, harrassing and lots of things which can have an impact on your fun in game.
Even though what happens in the background is not public knowledge (and we do not intend to make it so either) we wanted to clarify with you that on a weekly basis, some members of SoR are unfortunately banned indefinitly, or suspended for various amounts of time. As a general hint, we have banned/suspended 30 players since the 1st of January 2006.
So we are here, and we are still not tolerant and we do not plan on being so with such behaviour.
We sincerely hope this helps Atys be a better world for you all to experience.
Vince,
On behalf of your favourites CSRs and Nevrax CS

And on behalf of a brand new player just starting this weekend, I'm glad to read this!
I'm looking for a game and company that does some action more than talk when it comes to enforcing their rules.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

As a player of nearly six months, I second this post wholeheartedly.

Are you talking about game banning or forum banning or both?
A guildmate of mine was banned from the forums for trolling. He gave a smartarse answer to a post about the new trolling rules and admittedly gave the same (non-smartarse) answer to every PVP/faction war thread (of course, the people starting the threads always seemed to say the same thing too
).
This came with no warning and was a permanent forum ban.
While I can understand Nevrax's decision to temporarily ban people from the forums (such as everyone else banned in that thread with the exception of grimjim) I'm very worried when a permanent ban comes out of the blue. Also worrying is when someone is permanently banned on the same day as the announcement when trying to make sense of it.
This says to me, "every post you make could be your last".
Also IMO, when not trolling, grimjim added something to the forums so a temporary ban (weeks/months) would have got the message across and the community/Nevrax could have then benefitted from his positive contributions when it subsided. I'm sure motivation for his own roleplay player-events has also been dampened by only receiving half a service for his subscription fee - well it would if it were me. Actually, I would have quit.
I don't disagree that players who misbehave deserve some punishment and that we all benefit as a whole when some bad apples are removed. I do believe in having a system of escalating warnings and/or punishments before the ultimate ban though.
A zero-tolerance attitude to using game exploits is fine if you make it clear that they are using an exploit and if they continue they will be suspended, then banned. I would at the very least expect the same courtesy to be shown to forum posters where rigid game rules are replaced by subjective (although professional of course) opinions of moderators.
Hope I won't get banned for this as you did ask for feedback
(all OOC obviously)

Yes Boinged this refers to in game abuse, exploits and misbehaviour. There are procedures laid out for the CSR teams to follow and I firmly believe that these are followed in all cases. Indefinite banning in game is very much a last resort and things have to get pretty bad for it to go that far.

I also would like to know what the... good heavens is going on with this? We have seen far more offensive (read personal attacks) behaviour on more recent posts, yet those who made the posts continue to have access?
I do not see how grimjim's actions were suitable for a permenant ban when others are not.
Is this the decision of one person or a group? Is there an option to appeal/ask for a review of the decision?
