I'm not sure what the position is on editing the xml files for the UI (please point me to rules if they exist), but I have been trying to find player UI modifications for this game. Do they exist? Where? Are we even allowed to modify the xml?
Thanks

What Frydes said
It makes it very hard to provide support for someone when they may have changed and, chances are, corrupted any configuration or data files.

You will probably get slapped hard by the CSR peeps for any file editing! I have been told they stop supporting you ingame if they know you have been editing your game files!
My advice... Dont even go there!

On a side note, I was wondering if we the players could provide 'key' configurations and end up with 4 or 5 standard configs for someone to choose one that suits them best as a starting point. Why there isn't a config for WASD players is silly to me.
I was also thinking of wrtiting a script on the front-end of application startup that would save the past 7 days of your 'save' folder as there is a bit of corruption at times. Enough to make poor homins cry.
Noin.

The only thing that can be edited in the user files is the macros, but its easier to do that in game with the drop down menus
The hands bars and most other things are stored server side so its pointless.
and also, since they are stored server side, editing the interface locally would just mess everything up
as far as key configurations go, you are allowed to take key configurations from other players(as far as i know), you just have to copy their keys_playername.xml file and overwrite yours, this file contains your macros too
the keys_playername file and the interface_playername file are important!! if you save these files then you have all your settings in case you need to reinstall ryzom

Transferring those files over certainly made it easier to set up the game on my new computer. It might have been easier if I'd been able to run a direct connection between the computers, temporarily adding a HD to a system is NOT my idea of the best way to transfer things...

Back in my days, we had no networking, we just used floppy disks! Wait, we still have floppy disks, even tho they arent that floppy anymore.
Or mail your files to a gmail account?
Or burn a RW-CD?
So many ways to avoid HD swaps
