For the first time in a long time....

Something I have read from Nevrax actually sounds exciting and hopeful!

What's more it says Ryzom Ring is only 3 months away. I can only hope that is true and it doesn't end up being like the outposts.

Fine, fine press me on the issue. Yes I am Raynes. Yes, I am playing again. Yes, I plan to play the same mean evil misguided character that I played before. I just need to build of my current character before I can really start to have fun.

And yes I will be killing Karavan supporters and neutrals as much as possible. ;)

That's great man, welcome back :D I just had this feeling, sorry to spoil your come back...., but I'm game..... and I'll be there to stop you from doing that !

(I always enjoyed your RP stance, your posts and even shared some of your rants :D ... I even asked Liquado to get you back in game... the only minor annoyance is that we used to play in different timezones !)

Will I'm in the Western US time zone now. I used to be in the Eastern US one.

Now the only question is how long will I be able to rp the way I did before 75% of the game hates me? lol

That's one of "those" questions in MMRPGs... how to play an "evil" character? -- or a radical K/K -- without being taken as a PKer, in agreement with the lore background, but accomodating other play styles within the CoC about harassing other players.

I don't have the answer for that, and I don't really think it's possible; unless, imho, you identify a subset of like-minded chars (yes, it's a bit inconsistent/incoherent... some play the same way, some don't), keeping it pretty balanced (no big-uber guilds backup-revenges, etc.). What enjoyed most about Episode 2 was when it was tight, no a faction slaughtering the other.

Just as a personal experience: in my own case, I was pretty happy, long time ago, with a small Fyros guild in Windermeer, radical Kami followers.. Dang I even forgot the name of the guild and his leader... They used to speak in latin-ish (ancient fyrosian) and we RPed / Nuked / Refused to rez each other, I learnt their language (they had a web page with a simple grammar). Both sides had fun, and I enjoyed it (although yes, getting killed while pulling sup zun was a killer).

Things are more or less the same... As I posted in some other thread, the fact that this game started in co-op mode has made things harder.. but for example, the Twighlight Whispers are a good RP-wise guild (Kami followers) and FvF 'with manners' to name it someway

Well, if you get the anser, let us know,

Wow, that's an indepth answer. I really didn't post it as a serious question. ;)

To be honest I'm not going to play the game constantly worring if my actions are going to get people pissed off or not. Lets say I go up to a player and say "Die you vile Karavan" and the proceed to kill them. If they take that as me the player being mean to them the player as opposed to just playing the game, then it's their problem not mine. The same goes with a neutral. If I run up and say "Your lack of dedication to the Kami means you shall die!" then kill them. If they turn around and cry how mean I am, then again it's not my problem. They need to get a grip on what the game is about.

There are rules in place put forth by the programmers as to what is acceptable and what isn't. As long as I don't break them or constantly go after the same players then I have done my part.

In the end I can promise you I will piss off a few players, maybe even more than a few. It won't be on purpose, but it will happen. Some might even leave the game. However as I have found out and many have expressed my style of playing and use of RP adds more to the game environment than takes away. That's really all that matters.

it's a bit easier now i think to RP more fanatical styles. With the advent of the PvP tag those who dont want to be taken for the enemy can exclude themselves from the conflict, not withstanding open PvP zones of course.

I think when the faction war gears up a bit more we will see more tagged players (and when they fix that dropping from team bug grr), which in turn gives a more accepting attitude for those involved. Only time will tell ;)

As a guild we get some flak for our no ressing/assistance to the matis*, but generally we try to explain our viewpoint at the time. I am still waiting for Nevrax to make the area around temples FvF as it grates a little that we can only defend the Zorai Temple when it's being attacked by flagged players. imho if you come to our land to attack a sacred temple site you should be prepared to defend yourselves not just from the guards. There are many other ways to aquire fame, attacking temples should involve more commitment.

[small edit]
*matis karavan. There are some among the pale skinned ones who have seen the light of Ma-Duk and taken rites of allegiance, these we are not so hostile toward :)
