After long hours of digging I got a message from our guild elders - some young homins needed escort into Pyr from Zora. Speed dating and matchmaking were mentioned, but as a well known sucker for cross region trips I volunteered. So I put my digging and crafting gear on my trusty mek and made ready for a nice journey.
All went pretty easily before the ramp of doom and even the welcoming committee there including Mr Fylish didn't give problems. Arrival in Fyros and rest of the journey to the Pyr was mostly showing the wonders of desert to the youngsters from the jungle who never had seen my land of origin.
After arriving to Pyr and our little traveling troupe vanishing who to the bar, who to the bath or wherever a new message arrived. A new set of people were at Zora and needing a safe escort to the desert lands. - Did I mention the word "sucker" by the way? This time the ramp was almost a nasty end to the journey and some pretty heavy defensive action got us through.
Upon arriving into Pyr the weariness from hard work set upon me, so I went directly to the bar and thought about ordering something to refresh myself. Even firewine in my then condition after a hard workday and two exhausting trips proved to be fatal. On the matchmaking itself I remeber only small snatches of conversation - one of them happened to ring in my head when I awoke and realized the all of it was over and people were walking one by one out of the door. As I was wondering about the condition of a friend - she seemed to have found a match from a guard - somebody approached me and chided a bit about my "drowsy" condition during the event - and her voice was just exactly the same with the person who said the words still ringing in my head.
So in a fit of well one can't lose if one can't gain either gave a hastily scribbled note to the matchmaker. Oddly enough next day I got mail from her telling me that a date has been arranged, especially considering how that glass of firewine did affect me.
----
Night of the date, about a week later.
I ended my chores early and spent the rest of the evening sitting at the village green of Zora. As the place where the dating was set was for a good distance away started my travel there early - one will ever know what can happen when traveling through the lands alone. This time the journey itself was pretty uneventful so I had the time to enjoy the trekking and scenery. How beautiful Atys can be in it's best...
When I arrived into the place the date was arranged I found a hastily scribbled note - prearranged date and time had been a bit awkward from her. So all there was to do was trying to contact her for a new date, in case she still wanted to meet me.
(OOC) The event itself seemed to be fairly fun in all accounts, but "real life (tm)" did make participating more in person a bit hard for myself.
Just some comments on the arrangements ingame mail can be bit hard to remember to read now and then, maybe a personal tell from matchmaker could have been a better alternative. In addition in reality the place my date was set was at that moment inaccessible to my date
so some kind of checking the details with the homins in question could've been an worthwhile thing to do.
