Hey guys, a few questions

I went ahead and bought the game, because I was never one to decide if a game was good or not with only 7-14-15 days or what have you to play with it. I bought the game from Direct2Drive and got 45 days, so that was good for me.

Anyhow, I'm totally enjoying the whole spell/ability stanza system, and I like the overall aesthetic of the game. The problem is I don't really see much to actually do with any of it other than grind grind grind or attempt missions which appear at first glance to be extremely repetitive. I'm in a guild full of nice people right now, and they've been helping me out a lot with my questions, but one thing that I haven't really gotten a satisfactory answer on was what in the world I could possibly do other than kill things or run back and fourth on drop-off missions. I understand that there's crafting and such, but to be honest it doesn't seem like a whole lot of fun. Of course, I haven't tried it - so I wouldn't know. But conceptually it doesn't really help the issue; Grab a few items, turn them into crafting components, combine them into equipment, use equipment to grind better than you could without it. Yawn.

Anyhow I fully intend on sticking with the game, because I want to make the effort to enjoy it. Though after all this post, it should be obvious that I'm not the grinding sort of guy.

Oh, I was just reminded of something: Is there any sort of roleplay community within the game? That could certainly make things more enjoyable for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash the game or anything, I'm just looking for things to do.

Hey there, I know what your saying hehe..

In my early days I was getting bored pretty quickly with the grind, gind, grind and the lameo missions. tbh, things havn't much improved, a few more mission rites added etc but still not exactly thrilling.

However, this game is very complex and if you just force yourself on a bit further you'll find stuff to keep you interested..

Studying what way to do and make things most effectivly like: Actions(fighting, casting, harvesting, prospecting) Crafting (what materials you need to make what, what materials you need for certain stats, etc)

The scenery is also amazing and theres a hell of alot of it out there.. (and more to come)
It's great fun to explore, learn the best routes, and run treks around Atys. (I'll get that level 250 Master sneaker title one day )

Also once you get to chatting enough to the players/staff etc, the great community will prolly have you hooked anyway..

As for RP, well, not my dept but I suppose the forumsmaybe look for RP guilds here..

Good luck, and enjoy your stay!

Eh, that's somewhat dissappointing. Well, I'll trudge on for a while longer. I'm beginning to really miss the wonderful quests from WoW, which is the game I come from. Played that since release and got bored.

Ah well, anyhow. I'll just see how things turn out. I'm having a damnable time leveling up though, stupid Gingos giving me trouble.

The thing about this game (and the thing I REALLY like about this game) is that it doesn't tell you what you are supposed to be doing all the time. It is a setting - a world that is happening around you. It is up to you to find your place in the world and decide how you will interact with the inhabitants, and the other players are the important inhabitants, not the NPCs! I am not a grinding person either. If I ever find myself grinding in a game (i.e. doing stuff only for the sake of getting xp and levels) then I log out. I don't have to do that in this game. There are fascinating places to explore, exciting journeys to make, awesome sights to be seen, challenging creatures to kill - just don't expect to find an NPC with a star over his head telling you when and where to go and do those things. If you are tired of whacking yubos, pack up your kit and head out into the wilderness to see what you can find :D .

I'd love to do that, except that I keep getting smoked 300m outside of town from freakin' monsters I have no chance of killing unless I level up some more. :P I'm not complaining though, I haven't devoted a whole lot of time to the game at a stretch yet.

You can get out of any town by keeping your eyes pealed and waiting for aggro to move outta the way.

You have to admit though that Yrkanis is a bit tougher to get out of than the other capitals, especially if you're not used to sneaking past the aggro :D .

Certainly. The Samsara host a "Pub Night" RP event in the Thesos (Fyros town) bar every Tuesday. It sounds like you're Matis, so if your guild hasn't already trekked you up to the desert send a tell* to Jelathnia and I can probably escort you. :)

What's your character name? I often find myself in spontaneous RP in the Around channel lately, and I'd send you a tell to let you know where it's happening, if you want.

*Type /tell Jelathnia into the chat box.

Actually every other Tuesday. Next one is Jan 10th.

I'd be more than happy to help with a trip also. I'm sure I could grab a few of my guild to help too.

lol not these days, all you have to do is walk to the far left cliff face and follow it around, theres a max of 1 dog, which again you can avoid if you wait for him to move. This gets you to the arena, and again, aslong as you keep your eyes pealed, gets you to Natae and TB too.
