item stats?

I am at work so I am not sure if this is in the manual, but I am wondering if someone could explain item stats to me? I am having trouble trying to figure out what armor is good or bad especially.

Here are the item stats that are most interesting:

Hit points
Dodge factor
Parry factor
Protection factor
Slash protection
Pierce protection
Smash protection

Hit points: stands for how the piece 'lifes' at zero it's broken and can't be used anymore.
Dodge factor: determines if you get a bonus, or a penatly on dodge when wearing this piece. Light armour generally gives bonusses, medium is generally zero or 1, and heavy normally gives penalties although really good ones are zero.
Parry factor: determines if you get a bonus, or a penatly on parry when wearing this piece. Light armour is normally zero, so is medium although good medium gives something. Good heavy gives parry bonus.
Protection factor: this is one of the things that armour is all about. light is between 5% and 25%, medium between 20% and 40% and heavy between 40% and 60%. What this means is that if you get hit the protection percentage is the maximum that the armour can absorb for you.
Slash, pierce and smash protection: are the maxumum amount of damage the armour absorbs.

PF and protection are abit tricky so here's a short example.
Say a yubo hits you in your heavy armour. Your heavy has an ok PF of 50%. This mean your heavy takes 50% of the hit. The hit was 100 (it's a strong yubo), so maximum that can be absorbed is 50. Now you have to look at the protection, the yubo smashes, so to smash protection. Your armour has a poor 34 (random number) in that. So of the 50 that can be absorbed only 34 will be absorbed. The damage will be 66(100).
Next you fight a Yber, this one also hits you for 100. again 50% can maximum be absorbed, so 50 damage. The Yber is pierce, so look at the pierce protection, that's a wopping 66! (also random). but only 50% of the damage can maximum be absorbed, so your damage will be 50 (100)
