Actually, I went to that site and found a listing of spells but no description of what they do or what the selection of a particular spell/skill leads to. The same is true in game. When you learn a spell, you are given a list of four or five pieces of information about it, but I have no idea what any of it means. I read the boards and see terms like "amp" and "mat" but don't know what they mean either.
All online games tend to be frustrating initially, but this seems harder than necessary with "game-speak" and curtailed explanations.
I am currently on my 7-day trial period. I have met no one but kind, generous people in-game. I do not wish to burden players with endless inane, newbie questions--players are online trying to have a good time.
I would very much appreciate direction to a site or sites with clear descriptions of 1. how to improve harvesting and prospecting 2. magic spell choices--what effects they have and what further choices they lead to.
Magic is extremely hard to earn skill points in and I dislike spending them in directions in which I have no future interest. As for harvesting, I seem to be earning less and less credit for it all the time.
Thanks in advance.

Wrong
We players tend to be online to help new players ... and endless questions are accepted. If you're really afraid of bothering, then log into Klients and ask your questions there ... anyone will answer as best they can (oh, and amp= magic amplifier, the gloves you wear that help boost the speed and power of your spell, while mat= material, the raw craftables.
You might also want to check Acridiel's site (I'm sorry, I forgot the link, but i'm sure someone else will point you to it) and look at the tutorials there, and maybe also try the ingame Help menu tutorial.
But if you do have many many questions, i suggest Klients as the best help
.

Work in Progress
Plus I don't know what they all do either! I am almost 180 in Defensive and Elemental Magic and have more than a thousand skill points available. The key is you don't need everything.
There are some good guides out there.
DoubleTap's Harvestor's Handbook has been the primer for harvestors since Beta.

Wish I did... im 238 ele 140 heal, and I'm short on SP to buy all DoT spells
good thing those are only for playing around with... not really necessary (sp?).
For fight and harvest it's the same really. If you want everything there is, be prepared to do a few trees at a time. However, with 1 main tree, and some dabbling in another, I get by just fine.
The only kind of SP I never have is Craft. I'm around 110-140 in all MA parts, 90 in all melee weapons and other armor, and I'm still short on SP to buy some Fyros MQ MA plans, and I dont have any Zorai MA plans at all yet
My advice: plan your crafting. It's easy to recover from mistakes in skill choice in fight/magic/harvest (usually not even a mistake at all, just bought one skill when you shouldve gotten another) than it is in craft.
And as always: when in doubt, ask around. Most people you run into will be more than willing to give you some info and tips. And if one person doesn't know, someone else will. The information is out there, just not everyone has it all.
Good luck, and welcome to Atys
