Newbie questions

Hello,
Some newbie questions for ya! I play a newbie named Irving who is a Tryker, currently exploring Liberty Lake
(1) What do the numbers in parentheses mean in the damage indicators? For example, hen casting "Rot Damage 1" on a 1x green MOB, it always reports 32 (64). The 32 is the damage realized, but what is the 64? I notice that on melee damage and in the delve screen for items.
(2) What do I need to raise to be a better offensive magician? I'm level 11 now and only have Acid 1 and Rot Damage 1. I do fairly pitiful damage. When I buy and equip better amplifiers, not much seems to happen. With my melee skills, I ramped up real quickly, and the items were of greater significance. I could kill 1x and 2x blues pretty quickly in the melee tree, but I can barely kill a 2x green MOB now with magic
Thanks and best regards,
Irving

The 64 is the max you could have done if none had been resisted, blocked by armour, etc.

In the Info on your amps, look at the Elemental Power and Cast Speed to see how they will affect your Acid and Rot spells. The other thing with amps is that if your amps are too low level for the level of spells you are casting you won't get any of the bonuses from the amps (and you will get a warning telling you so)

Hope to be back in action Wednesday, so if you're around I'll see you then

Hello Irving, there are two effects that happen, if you use better amplifiers.
First, as already noted is that casting time, and the spell power will improve.
100% speed bonus, will cut the spell casting time to half, and 100% power bonus will double the damage you do with the spell.
The second effect is, that a better, higher quality amplifier will work with higher level spells. e.g. a q20 amplifier works fine with spell effects up to level 20, but won't amplifiy spell effects of level 40.

Hi Irving,
I see yoru questions have been answered so let me give you this hint:
Everything in this game is easier in groups. That pitiful rot 1 spell will kill quickly when 5 of you cast it on a poor yubo.

Fortunately though, even if things are easier in groups it is still possible to do everything except heal quite satisfactorily without a group!
