I've come from SWG, It's similar to that regarding the play mechanics, I never encountered any bugs with SWG. Here you choose to be a Mage, Warrior, Crafter and/ or Forager (I think it's called that), you dont have the huge variety of customisation that you get with SWG, i hope this gets better, but so far it's only.....interesting, I left SWG because there were too many ignorant (bleep-ers) playing the game and (bleep-ing) it up for genuine players, here the people seem more genuine and friendly.
I never played Lineage, but I get the impression that its really just a pretty hack'n'slash.
Regarding size, all MMORPGs are big and only get bigger with exp. packs, i'm not to sure if this one will take off, as it doesn't have the easiliy recognised universe of SWG, or the fame (infamy :) ) of EQ. With the advent of new games like SW Battlefront etc. it will find it a hard market to break, but here's hoping.

Excellent questions! I hope I can help with some answers.

I played SWG for nearly a year before becoming bored with it, and left it for the L2 beta. I played for about 2 months, left, then returned for another 2 months before coming here. I am much the newbie here so my answers may not give a lot of depth, but I can sure understand the motivation for the questions.

First, as an avid RPer let me say that the Ryzom universe certainly seems better suited to supporting RP thand does L2.

As far as professions, Ryzom is a skill based game similar to SWG, but you won't find any Master Pistoleers or their equivalent here. Rather, with every skill and ability customizable, you will find no two characters exactly the same. Even those on the same basic career paths may be very different as far as overall ability. Also similar to SWG, characters may pursue multiple professions and to any degree they see fit.

I can't answer as a player who has played forever and deem the game fun, but I can say that I am having fun with a very unique experience and am looking forward to how it will all play out. My advice? Go for it!
