Is there an advertising for this game???

I am playing SOR, and I think it is one of the best games I have ever played. But I would have never found it if not for MMORPG.com's game list. Where I might add it has one of the best user ratings of any game. If you want to build a user base, people have to know you exist. I have only been playing a short while, but I can see me playing for a long time. But let this game die, it is much to fun for that. Here's to hoping for a long game life, and much fun that it will intel.

ive bene trying to get people to SoR for more then a year and most of them are just like this game sucks cause they are even to lazy to check the howto etc and just run like a bunch of yubos around for 10mins and quit :/
Alot of people somehow are still playing WoW, though thats the most boring game of them all imo, i know people who get maxed out there in 3 days and then only have Molten Core left to do and thats bout it etc...
So conclusion is make more publicity for this game, some nice introducing movies for newbie isle and when you tp to mainlands same just a nice introducing....etc etc theres so much they can do to make this game good...im even sure that they can find ryzom ingame people who are willing to make movies like that.
There was a howto movie for stanzas once, we need more of those etc for making this game work with lazy people who wanna start right away...
Well ive said enough missed 20 mats by typing cu laterz
XXX nookz
PS: even i who closed beta tested etc had problems with the stanzas, luckely i had Kaetemi who explained it to me endless times till i finally got the hang of it...

I agree, I too only found this game via mmorpg.com, despite being into these games since the original EQ beta and having played most of the mainstream games, Ryzom completely escaped my attention. A shame, because I actually think this is one of the most original games of it's type.
Wow and it's ilk are just 'games'; you work from one level to the next and really it's not that far removed from the old platform games. Kill more stuff, get higher in the game.
I log into Ryzom and it's genuinely like stepping into another world, complete strangers chat to me and spend time to help and advise. The environment is completely original, not borrowed from a fantasy novel, and the story is true and progressing, rather than something that happened and we now live with the 'theme'.
Sure Ryzom has it's faults, and it suffers from an overstretched development team that has other business interests, not too disimilar to other 'niche' mmogs currently on the market. But what Ryzom has that the others don't is an amazing community.
I'm here to stay for certain, I've waited almost 10 years for a game and, more importantly, community as good as this.

Ya, the other day i saw an SWG commercial on TV and thought to myself, "that's what Ryzom needs to do".
I assume the only reason they don't promote the game more is lack of funds...
Guess until they can, it will be our little secret

Exactly.
Trouble is, Nevrax is neither Blzzard nor Sony Interactive.
They simply lack the financial Body to make a big splash in the Media Pool.
They are, so I understand, a small french company wich simply loves doing this kind of thing.
And hope to somehow make money from it.
Lets do our best to help them by telling people how great Ryzom is!
Ah, and those Stanza Movies can be found down there *points at his signature*

oooh lets start some sort of organised community publicity thing?
Like mention the game to everyone you know, spread the good word of Ryzom and what it has going for it. There are plenty of people out there who would love the game but have never heard of it

In a way I disagree. If you were to mass advertise this game and it was sucessful you would suddenly have to cater for the general type of online game player. This sort of person is not a Ryzom player imho.
Ryzom is the jewel in the crown, like that little known app your mate recommends that is so simple and suddenly makes part of your computer life easier, so much easier that you cant believe everyone is not using it. Like the mp3 player you find on download.com that does way more than WMP and winamp put together yet its still free. It's like the little tucked away garage in the back of beyond that can service your car cheaper, quicker and more efficiently than the massive franchised one 50m from your house.
What makes all these things great is that they are small, they do not compare to their giant counterparts and if they did it would kill them because they would then just be a mirror of something they are not and the big boys would lay the smack down and take them out.
Ryzom is pretty unique and personally I hope it always will be. As a business it obviously needs and wants to make profits, those involved dream the dream and want to be rich, but you don't have to be big to do that. The biggest danger that any company, with a good product, will ever face is expansion. The most common reason for a companies failure is aiming too high. Build slow, take your time, nurture your market and may we all be playing in 10yrs time when all the others have fallen by the wayside....
P.S. There is a certain amount of lager contributing to this post.... if it doesnt make sense, please ignore and move onto another topic.....

True, Snake. One thing I like about Ryzom is the small, friendly community, and that it isn't mainstream.
