S'int T'Klaes visits Fairhaven!

Homins, I bring you tidings of festivities!

S'int T'Klaes has decided to grace the Lakeland shores to bring cheer and joy! Spending all his hard earned dappers on the long trip (not to mention hiring a small army of P'ietn) he challenges homins to share gifts among each other this 10th of December at 8pm GMT! Upon swimming into Fairhaven, stabling his trusty mektoub Americo, he dares the jokers among you to gift your friends with both item and poem.

Being not impartial to a good show, he has promised to let his P'ietn hand out some presents of their own to those who particularly amuse him with their poetry! It has been rumoured that he quite fancies a fireworks show as well, so be on the lookout for his P'ietn and show them your best upon S'int's arrival!

To start off the festive moods, watch out for some of the poetry P'iet's work, such as the following letter, mysteriously found plastered on a wall near Frogmore place:
S'int spent a while a'thinking,
During some strong Stinga rum drinking,
Now this Soulsnatcher here, this odd man
A gift I need find for him, do you think I can?

Now the time for packages has arrived,
And the S'int found something a bit contrived,
Hoping that the gift, Souls will not fob,
Otherwise he'll soon be out of a job!

Lastly, the S'Int would like to say,
You'd better cut down on that coffee today,
S'int needs to deliver his present during the night,
So you'd better not be awake and have the house alight!

Now this poem reaches it end,
The wrapping you may now rend,
To find the gift I did just portray,
Now please, contain your anger while I run away!

Must be the cookies I had planned to leave out for him next week! I was wondering where they went!

Poems, fireworks and stinga rum... a lovely combo for any party. I'll bring my autolauncher! If I see a red nose raspal flying around I want to be ready!

[OOC: Rudolph is Santa Claus' reindeer. Sinterklaas however, has a white horse, and is not the same person as Santa. Thats what I meant by regional... Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas in English I presume) is mostly known in Belgium, Holland, and I think France.

He comes from Spain with a steamboat and only visits the children who've been good on the night between december 5th and 6th. The kids put their shoe under the chimney with cookies for "Zwarte Piet" (his black servant... it's folklore people!) and a carrot for the horse. Well, down here at least.

Sinterklaas is NOT Santa!

:p

end OOC]

I hope he brings my toy mektoub...

Quite right, in fact your Santa Claus is just a poor imitation of our Sinterklaas :p

Rocci has the folklore covered, except he forgets to mention that these days Sinterklaas usually has a whole army of Pieten rather than just one, each with it's own specialty (hence the mention to "the poetry P'iet" in Tidings announcement). Also his white horse is called Americo, which Sinterklaas uses to ride across rooftops (how else would he get the presents into the chimney?).

Don't know about other countries, but here in Holland the Sinterklaas holiday is usually celebrated by buying eachother presents and presenting them to eachother with a small poem. Ideally, this poem references to the present and also tells something about the person receiving it, preferably in a humorous way. :)

Seeing this all converted into a Ryzom event cracked me up. Specially the "Sint spent a while thinking", which (in it's Dutch translation) is the most cliche opening to Sinterklaas poems :D
