hi
after 5 mongths i dicided to play again the game and for some weird reason this time the game can't stop crashing
I ve a
P4 lga775 3.2Mhz
Asus P5gd2 deluxe mobo
512MB ddr2 533Mhz Crossair RAM
PCI-EXP. eax600xt /td Grafics Card (asus card with ati chipset)
winXP
I start the game and either the vpu recovel will reset my grafics accelator or the screen will flicker turn black and then i get an error "atidvga" display driver was terminated!! I ve formated the pc twice and installed the game,i ve tried latest and old drivers from both ati's website and asus with and without the catalyst, i ve tried a second monitor (cause same games crash if yr monitor type is :unknown),changed the installation from a sata HD to an IDE one and it s still crashing.
I also tried to change the page file from 766-1500 i changed it to 1024-1500 that didn't help either.
When i start the game and i check the task manager also i see that the game proccess is using only one of the proccessors(HT). so i ve to go affinity and choose the second one.
In the game i m also using the lowest details even disabled sounds. But nothing seems to work.
any help or suggestions about what i could do?
100 crashes per day are enough i think

This was on different games than this, but i usually had to disable Anti-Alaising and turn off the VPU recover in my G-Card advanced settings.
This would cause crashes (complete PC ones though) for things like Call of Duty and Battlefield Vietnam.
After turning off the AA and the VPU-R i had no issues anymore. However those problems didnt happen in Ryzom at all.

Sounds like your video processor is overheating.
I had to replace the cooling system on my 9800 XT when the blackness and other video errors started occurring. Once I installed an Arctic Cooler there has not been a single problem or video glitch. In fact I have even gotten more performance out of my video card.

I agree this most likely is an overheat problem. Used to have similar problems when I started playing this game, but quickly discovered my graphich card needed better cooling.
As to the HT processor. I got a dual Opteron system, but no game can utilize more than one atm. Games will have to be coded in a different way to make use of such technologies as threading. So for now - do not worry about that.
