Equality??

Ok. this has prob been suggested before, I try to check the forums regualry but i may have missed it.
Has there been or was there ever plans to make the races a little less equal?
What i mean is all the races are exactly the same which is fine but a little boring (and prehaps lazy

)
I think its a great thing that every race can do everything and learn every branch..
But what (IMO) would be nice is if there was a little varitey between the races. there are four races, there are four main trees the begin with, why not give each race a certain boost. So that one race was slightly better than the others in one tree.
In the example below take "20%" as what it is now and "40%" is what it could be with a boost
I.E:
Fyros Fight: 40% (from their heritage of being warriors)
Magic: 20%
Craft: 20%
Forage:20%
Tryker Fight :20%
Magic: 20%
Craft: 40% (from having such nimble fingers)
Forage:20%
Zorai Fight:20%
Magic:20%
Craft: 20%
Forage: 40% (from being more "at one" with the kami)
Matis Fight: 20%
Magic: 40% (they are supposed to be the most advanced - if u percive magic as being advanced?)
Craft:20%
Forage 20%
Im not suggesting that they do this, (i know they are busy enough as it is) but was wondeing (as ive not been playing since beta) whether or not it had ever been discussed or was it never part of Neverax's plans??
Thanx,
Tyilin

IF anything zorai would be good at magic, as the kami taught them magic, the kami after all created magic and brought it to atys, matis would be good at craft as their all ways trying to look good (failing tho)

It would be Zorai as magic and Matis as Harvesters if you read the race backround info on the main site.
I have often thought it would be nice if the races reflected the background more but the problem that always comes up it trying to create balance especially in the case of PvP.
A more practical alternative would perhaps be for the various rites that exist or are planned to be allocated to races on the basis of the background.

Would be neat, I am not sure how exactly how to implement this as it is not quite clear cut. Would this be just the ability to learn faster in specific areas? or would it be skills that the other races could not learn?
I would think that the later could be implemented as the citizenship stuff goes in. It makes more sense for it to be citizenship if it is a skill that can be learned.
If anything like this was implemented, whether inate race ability or skills, they would have to modify the character creation to include lore and information about the abilities of the races.

They should include a bit of lore in character creation anyways so people can pick a toon that matches their personality a bit more easily. /end_off_topic
Noin.

how about capping exp for different race on different amounts?
ie zorai could get upto 4.5k on magic...

I'd definitely like to see a lot more variety in characters, however, I can also see how it could be pretty risky to make any major differences.
Most of us that have played MMORPGs a lot have played ones that are based on a traditional 'class' system. Usually, there's one or more classes that kick butt and some that really stink. The playerbase quickly figures this out and you end up with the majority of players playing the same classes as the developers brainstorm and try to 'balance' the classes to make them equally appealing and useful.
Of course, if you make very minor differences that don't really affect the game mechanics drastically, then this isn't as much of a problem. However, those type of changes generally don't provide a great deal of differentiation between characters. A good example is the the boost they added in to the resistance for each race for that race's spells. This is technically a racial difference in the game (might be the first that's more than cosmetic), however, it's so minor that it doesn't really make one character that different from the next.
So I feel that it's either 1) keep the changes so minor as to not really matter or 2) make some significant differences and run the risk of really imbalancing the races.
I'd say I'm more in favor of #2. Of course, I'm not as perturbed by the swinging pendulum as others can be

Tryker should be faster swimmers

Maybe racial bonuses for certain weapons? Maybe a small casting speed bonus for your racial spell?

maybe make racial spells actually racial ?

same spell, same damage, little increase in damage/less resist when used in home land.

The racial spells do work better in the lands that they are from. Do you mean something different?
