A very brief history of Peromania

I was sitting around the fire in Avendale deciding where to scout next when I metamorphized the first two Peromaniacs, Shauni and Iverem. They were naturally intrigued by my awe inspiring presence and after much giggling and jostling approached me. I knew an invitation to the Iris Networks would be forthcoming.

I have not always been the humble and selfless leader that I am now. There was a time when I found others irrelevant. I was a hermit. I fought and foraged alone. My hammer and pick were my constant companions and I was happy. I swam from city to city. I’d climb the cliffs of Darkmoor only to enjoy the sunset. I’d watch my reflection in the clear waters of lakes and still streams. I located and mapped most every one of them and all the while I spoke to no one.

With all that in mind, I wondered what these two could possibly offer me. They offered me nothing. They asked of me everything. These two women had vision, they could foresee the coming storms and they knew that Atys would need a great hero. I listened to them echo the voices I had heard in wind and wave, “You must do more!”

The Iris Networks was founded on the principle of aiding refugees’ transition to the mainland. It was Shauni’s goal that the guild would serve as a feeder to other guilds, that the organization would be a sort of clearing house; members would eventually leave and join guilds of like minded souls. The refugees would need armor, weapons and most importantly a symbol. Shauni and Iverem persuaded me that I should interact and inspire those newly relocated Trykers.

Shauni was the guild leader, Davoren her first recruit and only officer led the guild. With my membership the organization quickly grew. My presence reassured those who would scarcely venture forth from Fair Haven. The stories of my valor were chronicled and soon all the races would begin a pilgrimage to see my mighty “Big Stick”. The Woman folk stopped wearing long dresses and began to wear less and less clothing in hopes of garnering my attentions. The entire world was abuzz with Peromania.

There is darkness in every soul and Shauni succumbed to hers. Her desire for me grew too great and eventually her passions and jealousies destroyed her. She had not appointed a high officer or passed down leadership when she took her life. The Iris Networks had no means of growth and no way to build a guild hall.

It was a time of change. Rhapsody seized the moment and reorganized the guild. Everybody wanted the guild to be called Pero’s Privateers but I dissuaded them, everyone would beg to join us. Thus, existing members would not be able to have as much individual Perotime.

Aedan Artisans was formed. Some were so upset with the fact that we did not name the guild after their greatest hero that they did not make the transition. Iverem the guild leader of Wanderlust was among them. She felt that it was unfair of me not to share my presence with the other races, so she took it upon herself to spread the tales of my Perofectness throughout Atys. What an astounding self sacrifice!

Under my leadership, (Rhapsody was just a figurehead) we built a guild hall and pushed the guild fame to 60. The lost guild, Synergy, joined us. Utai began her much appreciated refugee support work, Davoren continued bringing in new recruits. Artifex, Jinn and Odsman, who wore the Iris tag, continued to train and support the guild. Turke and Dreamin, from Synergy, helped us reach new areas and garner more strength. Himiko and Nikopol, my daughter and her husband, prepare for the days ahead. Pipp nagged me until I put her in control of my fan club so they she could be the first to get Peromania related gear. Kiwi began her discipleship and spreads the word of my great deeds. So many have come. So many have left.

Alas my awesomnisity, Rhapsody’s love for me became all encompassing to her. The dawn of the age of Aristotle was too much for her. She could not bear to share me with so many others. Eventually, she completely withdrew into a world of dreams, spending all of her time embraced with her vision of me. With Rhapsody departed I embraced my destiny and took complete control of Aedan Artisans.

Once, while on a Journey in the Pero Roots I met perhaps the most remarkable Peromaniac, Jamela. The only true way to Perofection is through AA, yet somehow through her brilliance and almost Perolike intuition she recognized immediately what true Peroness is all about. Thus operation “Pero” was born, a colossal statue of me to help everyone feel better. Truly, Jamela is an astonishingly thoughtful Homin.

Then tragically the Kami and the Karavan heard about operation Pero. They began to argue over whether or not I should be immortalized mounted or afoot. Understandably, war broke out.

Naturally, I was begged to form an alliance to protect Atys. They call the alliance HOPE (H)onor (O)bey (P)ero (E)xhaustivly. Rivet is the ambassador to HOPE. I don’t get involved with them personally anymore because the mass hysteria my presence always brings.

Remember if your feeling depressed or your life is falling apart; take comfort in the fact that it doesn’t really affect me. I am always Perofect.

Your Humble Hero
