Young Crafter Question

OK, I am still on Newbie Island, working on trying to get all my skills to 30 or so before leaving for the continent.

As my craft is now 20+, I have access to L3 Crafting Stanzas (QL to 30).

My question is, is it better to craft my QL 20 items (limited by resource availability) with the L2 Stanza or L3 Stanza, or does it not matter.

(This is not a question of should I get the Stanza, I want it for the mainland anyways. Its a question of wether I should go ahead and start using the L3 Stanza while I am on the Island)

Thanks,
Balagor

Doesn't matter. I'm a Q130 armor crafter in the lakelands who decided to start my medium armor tree in the desert. That means I should craft Q60, but am capable of trying for Q130 if I want. I'll fail a lot, but I can try. So, I set my stanza to Q90 to attempt the overcraft. But, I can't dig desert materials past Q60 yet. So, it makes no difference in my success rate if I try for 90 or 60 since my mats are 60 and therefore my best output is 60.

I'd leave it at Q30 (L3) so you don't have to change it when you do find Q30 mats.

BTW, at that level, you'll be able to get rolling a lot faster and with more help if you come over to the mainlands. You're ready, trust me.

Hmmm think old mess mis-answered you, or maybe i am thinking wrong... but anyways.

If you use a Q30 stanza and you only have Q20 mats you will only be able to make a Q20 item. The Q or Quality of the item is capped at the lowest Q material that you have in the combine(or craft attempt). Best way to see this is try to make a Q20 piece and put a piece of Q8 yubo whatever in it. It will show Q8 in the preview window for the end item.

You get experience based on your current level in that craft branch vs. the Q of the item you just crafted, not what you attempted to craft. And then it is multipled by # of mats and all kinds of junk that is inconsequential to your question.

So for you, which stanza to use the Q20 or Q30 doesn't really matter ir you can only get Q20 mats. Although I believe a few animals drop higher Q than that in the refugee islands. I do agree with oldmess though in that it does you no harm to use the Q30 stanza. (As the success rate is also determined by the Q in the preview that you are trying to craft.)

The complete crafting xp formula is in a post a few months ago on general forum though if you would like search for it.

Noin. (P.S. Keep asking questions in the forums and in-game. It makes it happier)

I may have over-answered or misunderstood the question. I thought he asked if he should scale back to the Q20 stanza because his mats were only Q20. My point was that it didn't matter because the mats limit you, but there's no downside to leaving the stanza higher than it needs to be. When he does find Q30 mats, he doesn't need to change his stanza.

hrhr... when I remember with wich lvl i got to the mainland, i must smile!
Rogalab...when you have this lvl, i Think you will have lvl 20 in meele or in Mage...is that right? because than you can finally more than easily go to the mainland! You would have enough HP or are strong enough for a fight with mobs! And in the Maintown of your land, where you will get ported, you can easily find ql50 Mats without aggro mobs anywhere (only npc *g*)
You can better and faster get skilled there and you can sell there your stuff very fast!
