When I click play from the character select screen, my computer restarts. The last entry in the client and log files both say " 2005/11/11 15:02:56 WRN 288 client_ryzom_rd.exe sound_manager.cpp 700 : Sound 'specie_but_over' not found ! " afterwards.
Two days ago it ran fine, this happened yesterday and i ran check data and ryzom recover a few times and it went away. Now it's happening again today, can you help me?... or is there anything i can do to keep this from happening in the future?
Please help... I realy enjoy this game, and would like to keep playing it... Instead of deleting it out of frustration.

If files keep disappearing or getting corrupted then you should really do a thorough scan of your system. You may also have some hardware/driver problems with your system. Make sure all of your cooling fins/fans are dust free. Check your events log for errors.
Make a backup of the Ryzom game folder once you have things fixed again. That will make life easier as all you have to do is restore things from there.

Try disabling EAX and lowering number of sound tracks playing. That should also help a bit.

didn't help. even downloaded the actual drivers for my soundcard instead of the generic nvidia drivers... luckily i have that backup you told me to make. seems like i have a limited number of uses before something causes a crash when i hit the play button.

Make sure you are using the latest DirectX drivers... I think I can recall a similar bug like that during beta having to do with Direct Sound. Can't hurt to try :P

Happened again... and I've got the latest directX... It is only that one soundfile that keeps disapearing. May be repeatable, it might have something to with character deletion or creation... Seems like everytime it happened I had either deleted a character, created a new one, or both.
