Trolls and flaming

Hello,
For several weeks now, the boards have been polluted by huge flame threads and trolls; some of them contain useful and constructive comments, some of them don't. However, generally, the atmosphere of the forums has degraded a lot, and we're receiving more and more complaints about it.
As you may have noticed, we have tried to keep our moderation to the bare minimum until now, only closing threads when personal attacks started to show up and using the 'ban' button very rarely. We think most of the people posting here are grown up enough to moderate themselves, and a bit of yelling sometimes can be understandable - we're humans after all.
However, the current situation on the boards is starting to seriously impede constructive discussions, and some players have stopped posting on the boards or even stopped looking at them, since they don't want to be flamed or read endless troll threads. On our side, it has been increasingly difficult to gather coherent feedback from the boards, since we have to sort flames and constructive comments, and the general atmosphere of the boards do not look like the game atmosphere anymore.
So, we'll start enforcing netiquette rules more closely. Flames threads will be closed more early, and flamers/trolls will be banned from the forum for an unspecified amount of time if they keep behaving this way.
Don't misunderstand me though. This is NOT meant to stop you from giving your real thoughts or from stating that something is bad if that's what you think. We rely on these comments to improve our work. But they have to be written in a constructive and courteous way.
Please don't feed the troll.
