PvP'ers always claim the reason they like pvp is because of the challenge it brings. You fighting another person.
So then, why do you guys love episode 2?
I don't get it.
Where is the challenge in killing an unarmed digger in 1 or 2 button presses?
Surely you can't like this. Even if you love pvp, you arn't getting what you want from this event (a good challenge). Why arn't you up in arms about it?
This content, that is centered around you guys... isn't very good. I know I'm wondering where my money's been going, but why arn't you guys?

pvp is more than 1 person defeating another person in battle. seeing which side builds a monument first i consider pvp, or player vs. player......and as far as the issue of pk'ing harvesters, i'd do it because its a form of 'economic warfare' which slows down the building of the opposing god's monument.

i'd like to add, i've played several mmorpgs. the ones that had pvp with a larger purpose, such as Dark Age of Camelot's relic captures, were far more interesting to me than winning a battle just for the sake of winning a battle. World of Warcraft's pvp doesn't interest me because it has no larger goals than getting your name high on a rankings list by winning battles. it doesn't effect the actual game.

I am not a PvPer, in large part because, as you say, the PvP in these games tends to be meaningless. When I came to Ryzom in August, I thought that Nevrax was on the way to give some meaning to PvP in the form of Outposts. This event, on the other hand, is back to getting your name high on the rankings. It has no meaning in the larger picture. If, instead of a 'who can build the most temples' race, it had been set up as the Karavan trying to build their temples and the Kami trying to prevent any temples from being built then I would have agreed with you completely. The way it is now, with 'honor points' and the steles of valor, and the kami trying to out-karavan the karavan in stripping the land, I cannot agree that the PvP has any goals larger than a rankings list with prizes at the end.

I think the real challenge comes from seeing how many anti-pvp/anti-EP2 threads can be started that go over the same points over and over and over and over and over again

This isn't quite the same ground, and it is a fair point.
Say one thing, do (and pursue) another.

and i thought because they red to you
but you got right about "slowing down" part... you cant actually stop "the enemy" from building one.
id rather see "stop enemy from building one" possibility w/o ganking harvesters.
it's doable, i have posted about it in here... and only ppl who is interested with PvP needs to take part of it. no ganking. harvesters could dig in peace.
i only hope Nevrax actually did read my post and considers it for future events.

fighting actually damages your own side's chances as much as your enemy since you're drawing people away from crafting/harvesting and provoking more conflict and interruption to your own harvesters.

The challenge is to prevent the other fighters killing your 'soft' targets, if your sides harvesters are being killed it is the poor defence provided by your own side, afterall the objective is to both build and prevent temple construction. And to dig without protection is to invite yourself to be killed because you are an easy target, you are after all building the enemy structure. There is not shame in killing diggers as that is all part of the conbined effort to succeed in your own temple being built 1st and condemning the others to history. If you are in the FvF zone you are taking part in a war and are a target.
