just wanted to pose 2 quick questions about my settings.
1. my graphics card is a 9600xt 128 meg should i use the open gl, direct x or auto setting.
2. my proc is a athlon 2500xp and i have a gig of ram and was curios to see if there are combos of settings that work particularly well. with everything set to normal except i believe texture quality which i set to high because i have 128 megs on the card, i was getting 19-25 in the newb area and didnt lag at all when i got to the city i did drop a bit i was in the 12-16 range and i got a little laggy but once i began to move away the prior fps resumed
please any hints ideas ect would be much appreciated thanks

only thing i'd really suggest is dropping the memory size to 64 or even 32, will make porting MUCH faster and reduce caching a bit, if you get that

you should have enough ram to disable virtual memory, loading from hd to hd is slow and pointless

pfft!
Be careful before turning off virtual memory..If windows manages to hit the gig that you have right now (which ryzom wil grab a big chunk of) everything will STOP...not just a bit laggy, a full stop.

I'm sorry, i dont follow... turing off virutal memory, (in the ryzom graphics settings... right? or what are yo refering to?)

thom hes referring to turning off virtual memory in the windows control panel settings
back to the thread
your frame rate in ryzom is much more closely tied to your processor speed than your graphics card, and I wouldnt expect you to get more than 12-16 in some areas of Zora, though it should be perfectly fine if your running around.
The best thing for you to do is turn down tile near clip to 20-50, and reduce character far clip to 100-150. i set the tile near clip to 300, cause that makes the whole world so pretty

doesn't happen here

got 1,5gb with virtual ram disabled, and everything's running perfectly
but i'll test it

Klients, Ryzom, Firefox, Visual Studio, Photoshop and Google Earth open (and msn, norton, and all the usual stuff) now and still not freezing

added Thunderbird and Acrobat reader.. memory is reaching it's max, still not freezing

added Patience(Solitaire)... ryzom crashed: "2005/10/31 18:45:33 AST client_ryzom_rd.exe init.cpp 255: STOP"

Ok..I concede...
It should do though...once you max out your memory it has nothing else to do and should just lock up. I expect there's other forces at work here....possibly dark forces seeing as it is halloween!
