Time for some positive comments

Every single update there are people complaining, people telling how bugged the update or the game is, ...
Topics about people leaving, devoting a lot of time summing up reasons why they leave, and most of the time forgetting that Nevrax hooked them for months to its game, that they had a great time playing it and had many hours of fun.

First I want to adress the pvp Nevrax has introduced. A few months ago Nevrax told the community that they were gonne focus on rebalancing pvp in order to implement FvF and GvG wars. It was something they already had planned and announced 2 years ago. I don't expect for everyone to believe me, but here is some proof, check out teaser 03 >> http://www.ryzom.com/data/video/teaser3 ... V_high.avi <<
It shows late alpha testing or early beta 1 testing (beta 1 still was an internal test by the devs only in beta 2 the first few public beta testers were invited). Small note here: you probly will notice in that teaser Ryzom used to be a class based game like every other mmo around.
When Nevrax announced the PvP strike team, the community cheered! I didn't see a single post about people worried about PvP or any of the related things. Everyone was glad pvp would finally be rebalanced and would become more interesting.
Anyway, time to make a point: PvP, GvG and FvF was already planned years ago, the aim of Ryzom allways has been towards these futures. During all the months of beta testing and during the first months after release, Nevrax focused on balancing and stabelising the game and the code. To be honest I think they have done an awsome job there. Ofcource there are still a few bugs and some things aren't balanced that good (ranged combat for example), but there is nothing that is really annoying (its actually pretty hard to find a bug).
After the little strugle Nevrax had short after realease (I don't recall any mmo who hasn't had a few problems after release), they strated to push forward and making thier story. The devs are giving us more things to do, giving us new goals, new targets. As mentioned in previous posts, Nevrax has listened closely to the community and makes options available for players who don't wish to participate in pvp and/or the story. Currently you can just choose wheter or not you port to the new terretory where the fraction war is going on. In the upcoming updates, pvp will be brought right at everyones doorstep but you will be able to choose if you participate or just stand by and watch. Ofcource you will be affected by the outcome of wars over outposts and various terretories, its a dynamic world .. duh.

I also have a little message to the players leaving, complaining, ect ...: Its normal you grow tired of a game after a while. An update can make you leave, it can be one or more of your friends leaving the game, ... Sooner or later you will leave.
Every single update I see people leaving, but this time I noticed something different, there also are lots of people coming back! I for example have been inactive for the past 3 months, I played some other games, not really any worth mentioning or remembering. From time to time I showed my face again, but I got bored real fast when I was playing. But a few days ago something happend, it was like lightning struck me, it was episode 2 :D It gave me new goals, new things to do, more options to choose from, ... it made the game more fun (at least for me :p ). I'm pretty sure lots of other people feel the same way, at least in my guild they do. I see lots of old/inactive/less active members returning, wich gives me the feeling something good has happend to SoR ..

nuf typing .. gonne play now :p

Strictly speaking thats a defence, not a series of positive comments.

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Yes, we all knew more PvP was coming. I'll even _happily_ take part in certain PvP events.

What I think most people are objecting to, and they can correct me if i'm wrong, is that everything coming up, pretty much, is heavily PvP oriented and exclusively PvP oriented while also having a profound effect on those who don't want anything to do with PvP if they can help it.

'Do what though wilt so long as it harms none' - the trouble is, it IS harming others by omission (Ep2) or imposition (FvF areas).

Its nice to see something positive here for a change. The "great community" we had used to pride itself on sticking together and keeping away the "leet" kids. Instead, the game goes on (without "pwned you" in region chat) but the forum is filled with the whiners (ironically the people who warned they were coming with EP2. I hadn't realized they were talking of themselves during their warnings). If its really as bad as you're making it seem, then LEAVE. yes, you loved the game, but now its changing (and will continue to), so if you don't like the direction its taking, then just leave.

As for them "not listening", perhaps you all are the minority in this debate. The German and French servers have a larger population to us and seem to be taking EP2 much better than some of you all are. So if Nevrax can look at the numbers and say "well, of all the servers combined, 80% of the people enjoyed it, 10% said it was iffy, and 10% hated it", they'd still write it off as a success.
You can complain all you want, that doesn't mean they will actually do anything about it. You're not on the nevrax team, so don't expect to be making decisions for them! You can make as many suggestions as you like (although making 3 threads a day on the same subject does little other than annoy other players), but recognize the fact that they don't HAVE to actually do what you're suggesting.

Well, Nevrax told that they were focusing all thier energy in pvp. Pretty obvious you get a series of updates involving pvp.

Don't worry, there will be other types of updates.

Would you mind telling me which FvF island YOU'RE on, because it sounds a lot better than the one I've been on.

I hope you're right. EP2 is still young. Maybe we haven't hit the trigger for the non-PvP content. The temples are going up slowly. Maybe some cool RP event happens when y'all get the Matis Karavan temple to 10%. Or the Fyros Kami one. Maybe a huge Kitin invasion!! We assumed that even if the neutrals/non-PvPers/non-RPers/neutral non PvPers were in the minority (less than 10% if we take Morg's estimate) that they wouldn't introduce content that was exclusively PvP. Maybe we are assuming too much that because Week 1 had nothing for them and the devs refuse to let go of their big suprise before its time, that Week 2-12 would be devoid of such content.

You know what they say about assuming, don't ya??

People just want a hint - maybe even a promise that if we remain loyal to them they will honor us with content for everyone. Even the whiny yet highly vocal minority.

Positive Comments:
I was able to harvest in Enchanted Isle near the Kami TP without fear of being PK'd.
Got experience for my crafting, up to L165 MA Vest.
Crafted a 95/95 HQ q60 pike with 933 sap points. The guildie I crafted it for thanked me for it.

Have Fun! Help Others!
