So, we've covered training kinchers. How do we feel about cliffing?

Players have ranged attacks.
Cliffing a player is therefore (almost) impossible.
Cliffing a mob is an exploit.

Cliffing a Mele character maybe?
We'll the way it was said in terms of cliffing mobs was that Abuse of pathing so that there is no chance the mob can reach the player is an exploit.

Cliffing melees and diggers.

Tbh I personally wouldn't call that "cliffing". To me at least, cliffing is attacking something from somewhere that means it can never reach you back. A melee or harvester can run away (in theory at least, yes I know in practice there's no time to do that before you die) or switch weapon sets (again in theory).
To me it makes no difference whether you nuke them from on a cliff or from 50m range, and I'm pretty sure in most circumstances it wouldn't matter to them either because they usually can't kill the nuker either way.

Well, on the plus side, killing the guy gave me my first and only positive PvP experience since I regard it as cheating.
So not all bad.

i'm anti PvP and i hate to say this but theres a war going on, and well there might be rules of war, but who's gonna follow those rules. if a side played by the rules exclusivly, they'd be the losing side. as it stands now there's little or no tactics and organization to the fighting, so if a small group tries to take an edge i acually commend them for their efforts. you don't have to go there you know..i don't. i went to check it out and found it almost a waste of time.. the advantage sways as the kinchers spawn on the winning sides so its just a back and forth nuke-bomb free for all..theres no fun in that. instead of complaining that others aren't [playing the way you think they should, mabey you should be finding an edge to beat them, and if your not comfortable with that then go back to main atys and have fun..like i do..happy hunting eachother..see ya on atys

I don't think staying out is a truly feasible choice for people unless they're willing to sacrifice a lot, whether in terms of game advantage, reward, roleplay, lore or a dozen other things.
It is NOT true to say that you consent to the stupidity going on simply by entering the area. That doesn't represent the situation in context.

wellif it's stupidity going on there then it shouldn't be difficult to thwart..just be smarter than the foul playing enemy and beat em before they can become an annoyance..complaining about their tactics will only fuel there motives and make them confident that it's working. even the most powerful of armies can be made to look inferior by guerrilla tactics. you have to remember, its a warzone there and should be treated as such. to let the enemy know that their tactics are effective by complaining that they are working is just foolish

well, today i had a very nice experience with cliffing: saw some kami on the wood spot dropped while i was down on the shell spot, ran to heal him when suddenly two karavan put themselves on the cliff, i managed to get one heal in, increasing his time to ~ 8 minutes and got the heck outta there. stopped at 51 m and danced in and out, waiting for them to try and nuke me and generally kept them busy until the kami force had advanced behind them. the end is history.

now what's the difference here? i'm not a mob. i can run away. i know their limits and i know how they think. this is something that all mobs don't have, they don't even KNOW how to run away. using the cliffs to kill them is basicaly exploiting their ai. that's why using cliffs on them is called cliffing and using them on players is tactics.
