Honor Points. Fighter Vs Forager

i see a lot of talk about killing people in their focus stuff and so on, and i see a lot of people moan about how its so unfair and how they want to dig without hinderence to construct opposing faction temples.
My point is when you think about it a full time digger will easily beat a fulltime fighter for honor points any day of the week. 100 Q250mats give 3200honor points compared to a fighter whos lucky to get 160honor points from an enemy fighter if you manage to solo them and remember you cant chain kill them, theres a 5minute timer you have to wait out before getting points from them again.
So when you think about it dosnt a digger get rewarded for the risk they take in aiding the construction of their temples?
I admit i openly kill diggers and prioritise them as targets in the new lands, if that makes me a ganker, then im a ganker. im working towards building the kara temple first and allowing the opposition to dig goes against that goal. Otherwise what would be the point of fighting? may as well just go back to friendly yrk duels inbetween grinds.
Oh and iv died many times digging myself but hey thats what i deserve i guess being a ganker and all
Overall iv enjoyed the new content and mostly its been good spirited and pretty exciting.
oh and if nobody wants war then everyone become a karavan member, who would be left to fight

I consider harvesters in AD a legitimate target.
They are working for the war effort of the opposing force.
It certianly isn't as honorable as killing armed opponents, but from an RP PoV, the Kami are evil, and Ma-duk wants these temples to more effectivly destroy us. Anything we can do to stop the kami devils is a step toward freeing hominkind.
I can see the peacenik view as well. The harvesters are peacefull collectors that are trying to add to the beauty of Atys by building religious monuments. They are not prepared to fight back, and should be left alone.
Which sounds great, until you realize that the Kami temple, once completed, will devour us. Then, for the good of all hominkind, you must stop those that are trying to build it.
In a practicle sense...honestly, when I am in a firefight, any red dot becomes my target..I don't even look to see the level of the heretic. Sometimes I choose a target with a bit more care...but normally I spam bomb spells

I agree, I'm not going around killing harvesters because most the time I am busy harvesting. However, I do agree with the sentiments that harvesters are legitimate targets, its part of the design for the scenario and I like it this way. The enemy harvesters are trying to build a shrine that will endanger Atys and I want them stopped as much as I want the temple of Jena constructed.
I can also see that the Kami think Jena is coming to invade and the temples are just bases for her cause, so want them stopped.
I don't mind being killed by those on the other side, its fair play imo. The best and most fun teams I've been in is with harvesting and watching each others backs. If theres blue dots coming our way our guards will go out and check them out and everyone gets ready for battle if nessecary and defends ourselves. Thats how its supposed to work.
I also like how theres a fog of war on incoming dots so you have to stay awares. Theres no DP for pvp, and it only takes 5mins to get back to harvesting so at best its delaying their temple progress by a few minutes.

Nayr,
I dont think the killing of the harvesters is the problem, nor is the honour points (or how much you get of them for doing what.)
The problem for the 'moaning' is there has not been something new in the game for 9 months. So now everybody in the game wants to try it, anyway they can.
But as we have so much different play styles, the new shiny thingy seems to be more focussed at one style then one of the others. Like I said, we all want to try it, but some (or a lot) of us come out quite disapointed.
But as everybody want to be rewarded, there are players who feel they are forced into this, because it is not their way of playing, not their idea of fun. (Yes, I know the argument: 'then don't go there' no need to repeat it again.)
If this whole episode was about roleplaying (by gaining honour points by doing real good roleplay for 30 minutes with 2 other players (or even a guide to judge)), then there would be moaning too.
There are numerous threads already with suggestions that would make this episode much better for all players.
I can imagine the PvP-ers start getting annoyed too because of the moaning, as they just want to kill and not here about it for hours on region chat...

They can kill each other in the PR. So they can leave if they don't like it. After all, entering the FvF zone MUST mean they want to hear the whinging

i think the devs should have safe digging zones for people who didnt want to PvP this way everyone is happy and can still contribute towards the temples if they so wish. The only thing i would say is that because these areas would be safe that they would need to dig twice or maybe more mats than the PvP area mats to make the same impact to construction and also a lot less honor points due to the drop in risk factor.

How about you use the lower ql mats that already do that, like shells and resin?

yes shells are nearly safe, and Jyudas; Not everyone is PvPing for the sake of PvP, they are playing the event as its meant to be played and enjoying it, you cant take that away from them.

The way something is meant to be played is as the players wish to play it.
Its a failure of Nevrax to provide for some fairly obvious other modes of play for this event.
The problem is that some are indeed taking away the enjoyment of others and are supported by the game mechanics in doing so. Those wanting a more peaceful or non PvP option do not HAVE the means to take anything away from anyone, it is ENTIRELY one sided.
Why is that so completely impossible for you to wrap your head around?

Kibs, normally I like your enthousiasm about the game, but this time i cannot.
Could you please keep it to your own opinion ('I think I am playing the event as its meant to be played and am enjoying it.') instead of making it sound like a fact. There are more ways to play it (check machieltjes Third Way) and also people who are not enjoying it.
(Which does not mean there _indeed_ are players who enjoy it.)
