Spotting a Harvester

There have been a bunch of threads recently which have mentioned harvesters being treated differently to non-harvesters. (Things like how players 'con' and honour points jump to mind.) People have rarely continued to think through the ramifications of their ideas though. They seem to give up at the start saying, "the game can't tell who is a harvester and who isn't".
The client knows if I have a pick in my hand - it lets me do prospect/harvest actions if I do and it doesn't if I don't.
The game knows whether I've joined in group or solo combat or not - I get xp if I have and I don't if I haven't.
Think through your ideas again and don't give up (some were good, some were awful

). There is no reason why the game can't use existing mechanisms to label a character 'non-combatant' or 'harvester'.

I don't think I ment to argue that it could not be done.
Just that changes to the game would have to be made to do it.
If your target has a pick in his hand when you kill him, then you get fewer honor points....that sounds like a fairly simple coding change.
But, it is still a change.
And we know how fast Nevrax usually gets around to those.

Now I can drag aggro while holding a pick to annoy my enemies further.......

Nevrax planned it this way though. We were told not to let the opposing faction get the resources needed to build the temple. One can hardly do that by simply killing the enemy fighters. Instead, killing the enemy diggers is part of that. That would be why the lower Q mats are off to the sides, in easy to dig places, while the harder and higher Q mats are in the middle of the map, where there is a high chance that you'll run into enemy forces (and kincher).

They should learn to change their plans more often.
Best of all they should learn to revert their plans back to what they were in beta, when this game was many times more popular and well talked about than it is these days.
