Newbie questions (about various things)

Hi,
i just started playing yesterday. The game seems interesting but im having trouble grasping some of the basics.

Prospecting:
I have one or two prospecting skills, but i really dont know how im supposed to use them. Every time i try for instance basic prospecting something that looks like a yellow resource apears at my feet but i cant do anything with it. Am i supposed to turn around and try at a lot of different places until a "real" resource apears?

Gathering:
What skills do i need in order to gain more items from a source? Right now every pile of resources gives me 1.9 items and i would really like to get 2 instead.

Items/Equipment:
Is there any good way to see what you have equiped and what stats those items have? I havent even been able to determine how good the starter gear is compared to the rather shoddy boots i can build myself.

1) prospecting. If a green bibble apears you need to select it by clicking it. Then you start extracting by klicking the symbol fro extraction. As soon as you can afford buy some angle and distance bricks. Makes it a lot easier to find spots to dig.

2)gathering
extraction time, extractions speed, and there is a difference between gentle and harmful. You will learn this very soon. Al long way to dig up to lvl250 :)

3) Not ingame atm, but wasnit it right click and info ?

Yes, like the green ones around starter island and later around the capital city on mainland.

But i am not sure what you mean with yellow things ? I know the green ones change color over time. from green over yellow to red and hmm lets say dark. The prospected sources have a timer. if you wait to long you can not extract them. Maybe the timer hits when they are yellow. Else you should describe them better ;)

I'm a little confused about your reference to "yellow things", I have a feeling these are sources anyway or ones that you or somene else have recently dug from that haven't disappeared completely yet.

You will get a message on screen and in your system info window telling you that you have found x amt of sources or that it has failed for whatever reason. If you then double left click the source you will run forward and start digging from it (as long as your pick is in hand).

As your skills progress you will be able to dig more materials from each source and once you can prospect three spots you should be able to dig from two of them each prospect.

Happy Digging :)

Or maybe its the yellow dots that appear for a few moments when not finding anything? They're only there for a few seconds, I know I've seen them...either that or I'm delusional.

edit: Although, come to think of it, they don't look anything like resource spots. So I, myself, will have to go with the delusional idea. *rolls eyes* Or blame it on me not having coffee yet...

Mmm...coffee...

The yellow 'splashes' that appear at your feet are related to the angle used in your prospect. Its supposed to help you see how wide an area you are prospecting.

They were badly implemented as they only appear briefly and inconsistantly.

They don't not have anything to do with success or failure.

They don't give any indication of mats being present or not.

Yes, only green bubbles. If said green bubbles go poof, do not sit in green toxic cloud for too long, it makes the world go all twirly.

Thanks for all the help. Finally got a basic grasp on prospecting.

Now i just have to get a few levels before leaving the island. From various guides i read i got the impression an allround character should aim for at least lvl20 in every area before joining the main land?
