I'm checking the forum here in work this morning after the best session of ryzom for a good while and all I see is people moaning about PvP,

The start of the event and also last night was probably the most fun ingame I've had for a long time. The PvP while a little unbalanced and repetitive was most fun because I was in a team with some players who I would probably never have really talked too and we all worked together discussing strategy having a laugh and killing karavan scum (sometimes my own guildies btw for those who start on TNE's neutrality).

This episode is running for probably the next month maybe less and I must say it will probably lose its gloss by the end of that, but otherwise it's the best thing bar a kitin invasion.

there's no-one being forced into talking to a kami/kara and being teleported there. Theres no-one acting like a buch of idiots and moaning when they die there (its kinda expected on both sides), theres no DP, theres no XP, everyone seems to be having fun except a few RP'rs griping about lack of content blah blah blah.............

diggers are meant to be fair game not "innocents" thats a large part of this event. If you wanna dig peacefully go to dyron for gods sake.....I'll even show you some spots. The mats you dig work against the other side so therefore they have every right to kill you, for once digging isnt some solo action its a challenge. I think more people would be moaning if there was a place both sides could dig in peace (which IMO would make this a competition on who's got the most "master" diggers)

btw for those who dont know me I'm not a massive fan of PvP, This event has awoke some bloodlust in me because its more than a team going around EF ganking diggers (which I believe is bad PvP)

stop moaning and have fun in this event while it lasts, its not often 60% of the community get together to kill each other.

About moaning...

slight .. but important correction

there IS dp.

getting killed by kitins and having hostiles guarding your corpse to prevent it being ressed guarantees you will get DP.
due to the neccessity of teaming with high level nukers to be any use in combat, you will receive a pittance of xp to clear it.. the other choice is digging and being bait for the enemy.

The nukers must protect the diggers then! simple!

Dream on. why would you take the boring task of guarding diggers when you can run around like a pack of wild dogs nuking every thing tht turns into a red dot when your in easy striking distant? Standing around waiting for something to happen won't earn you honor points so you won't see you name up in lights.

Just because to dev's want us to build a temple doesn't mean we have to right?

ps If this sounds a bit on the negative side it's cuz I've made an other attempt at getting something out of this "event" only to find I one of the very few who's even remotely interested in completing the task that have been laid out before us. I would like to complete a temple, even if it's just one, but in order to do so mats need to be dug and parts need to be crafted but almost every one is too busy hunting eachother down to even care about the diggers which leaves the crafters twisting theur thumbs for want of mats.
Granted the dev's encouraged this by introducion a ranking system that rewards solo play and punishes cooperative actions but it doesn't make it any less frustration to not being able to craft because there are not mats and not being able to dig because of death squads looking for easy prey.

Do you people really get a kick out of one hit kills? Grow up people focus on the real prize and get these temples up....

Joining in the massive fight does stop harvesters from getting killed.
If one side takes out the other, people get bored and go look for the harvesters while waiting for enemy to respawn/regroup.

Protecting the harvesters means knowing where they are and being there when they get attacked wether it is by kinchers or by players. This is NOT what's happening atm.


It may soothe your concience to convince yourself your doing something that's useful to the progression of the storyline (or maybe you don't give a damn) but "joining the massive battle" is a selfish act and serves no purpose except your own.

Isn't going to happen until they give honour points for killing kitin.

Even then it's not going to happen because there simply aren't enough kitin to threaten the diggers so killing homins of the opposite faction will still be the best way to gain those blasted points....
